Pretty much agree. Calzaghe and Hopkins would both outpoint Dawson to a UD. I think he's got great potential but at the moment he's just "the next big thing" like Lacy was. Boxers as class as those two beat him 99 out of 100 times. Calzaghe might be tempted into it just for the payday, but I don't think a win will do much more for his legacy. His critics will always look for the next big potential SM/LH saying he'll get exposed if he fights them and they'll be doing until Joe is just too old to box. There's no reason to. He's beat everyone there is. Although secretly I'd love to see him fight again.
if this fight was to happen now dawson would be the underdog. and never under-estimate the bookie . calzaghe - UD ( again )
Calzaghe outboxed one of the great tactical fighters in Bernard Hopkins. Winky didn't come close to outboxing BHop. Tarver was completely outfought and outboxed. Pavilik? Fahgetaboutit. Joe is at the highest level because he figured out Hopkins after the third round and outfoxed the fox the rest of the way, with in and out movement and angles. On the master. The same master who has recently easily defeated the world champions mentioned above. Give Calzaghe his due. And he outboxed a great boxer in Kessler, and boxed circles around Lacy, who was not a great boxer himself. I watched the Lacy fight again last night and Joe used angles and feints. This was boxing, not just volume.
Oh please! The only thing Calslappy has going for him is a good stamina, quick feet and a high work rate. "Technician" he is not. Shall I dig up the clip where it appears Calslappy is emulating swimmer Michael Phelps in the Hopkins fight?
"Chad genuinely DID refuse to fight Adrian Diaconu who actually WAS mandated to fight him by the WBC and got stripped of his belt for it." This is a great point. Pavlik should focus on AA. Froch should focus on Kessler and Dawson should focus on Erdi/Diaconu. All these contenders have not yet dominated there divisions and they think that they are worthy of a big fight with someone who has been there and done it for years.
Hate to break it to you, but those were all the same Calzaghe. Hopkins was just a higher class of opponent than the other two.
Man, stop copying ESB writers stories! You didnt come up with this article before that writer wrote his story, but now you have your own articel rephrasing his article. You're not fooling anyone bro. You should actually learn boxing if you wanna speak it, some of us posters werent born yesterday
