With the ongoing debate on who would, I'd like to get the general consensus on ESB.

Based on their last performances, who would win if the two met. Dawson or Calzaghe?

Calzaghe UD lets remember dawson REALLY did go life and death with Johnson and Calzaghe is like Johnson on speed.

Dawson I predict will always be troubled by busy relentless in your face fighters he takes breaks in rounds throws a few quick bursts of punches then goes missing rinse repeat.

He is a bit like RJJ but without the power.

Dawson just takes too many breaks in a fight to ever outpoint Calzaghe and he hasn't the power to KO JC.

He definetly has the power, he put down Tarver and only Hopkins and I believe Harding had done it to him.

No but he's got decent pop and could put Joe down, hey Hopkins did it and he's got even less power.

Why am I a Calzaghe hater? Because I made a good point of his decent but not devestating or great power. This is what nuthuggers resort to if they can't come up with an arguement, give an honest analysis or don't comment. How is Dawson a hype job? Lacy was a hype job but Dawson actually has skill and you can see that if you've actually watched him.

Dawson's a natural LHW. He's young, fast, has great conditioning and is 6'3". He's too big for Calzaghe.

Dawson's not too big for Joe. Chad's got a frame he could easily move to 168. Chad does have skill, but I don't think he deserves a fight with Calzaghe. The fact there's no real money behind this fight is testament to that. How's Calzaghe supposed to be motivated for a fight like this? That's how great fighters at the end of a career get upset by a young oppurtunist. Let Dawson earn his own greatness, he's got fights waiting with Diacanou and Cloud.

I was naughty last night allegedly so had to make a new account, and you using someones join date as some form of marker for knowledge is quite weak.
The poll results will be in favour of Calzaghe UD.

Dawson has some issues with his chin and is also prone to being vulnerable against a pressure fighter as he showed against Glen Johnson. His southpaw advantage would be removed in this fight and he's definitely not the smartest fighter in the ring.

It would really come down to whether Dawson truly is fast enough to be faster than Calzaghe, whether Dawson can handle a sustained attack to the body and if he loses the plot like other fighters have done when facing Calzaghe.

Personally, I'd expect a very clear victory to Calzaghe. I think he hurts Dawson to the body and Dawson's chin is shakey enough that it's not beyond thought that Calzaghe can knock him out.

Personally if this fight did occur, I'd love to see Calzaghe go back to normal gloves and throw hard, one last time. Maybe get himself to 6-7 rounds in where he's winning and then really sit down and hurt Dawson to go out dominant.

I do want this fight to happen.

ps "Joe isn't a consistent body puncher"

How the hell do you think he broke Kessler down? Not to mention Jones Jr last night. Go back and watch the ****ing tape, Calzaghe worked his biggest punches to the body, while resting his head on the chest/gloves of Roy Jones Jr and then snapping him upstairs of Jones tried to retaliate.

Dawson has his legs, speed, stamina, and skills. Joe has never fought someone as good or like Dawson.
