in so many ways. If you take away the first 3 rounds, Joe got caught with no notable punches. However, Chad was getting hit with right hands in every round. In addition, Joe did not load up on punches which led to more being landed. Chad was trying to sit on punches versus a guy with a upper level chin. Chad had no gameplan and is lucky Hopkins was old. Joe showed talent and a brain whereas Chad just showed talent.

Too bad Calzaghe ducked Dawson then, eh?

Say what you want, but at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that Joe Calzaghe and Chad Dawson each have a win over the best boxer since 1990.

Yes Dawson getting hit by 3 right hands every round must mean Dawson failed, *sarcasm*. Most of the shots Hopkins threw were blocked, the clean right hands that did land were seldom.

I agree with you that Dawson did load up on his punches, but only with his left hand, although Hopkins still got hit with the left hand. Dawson is a right-handed southpaw and Hopkins was correct that Dawson doesn't use his left hand as well as his right. None the less Hopkins still lost convincingly.

Scully will have teach Dawson how to properly throw the straight left. The irony is that Dawson in many fights has shown a good straight left, I guess that's what happens when Dawson is constantly switching trainers.

Dawson's performance was better. Calzaghe faced a better version of Hopkins and arguably lost 114-113 on a number of people's scorecards. Also, I'd still favor Dawson over that 2008 version of Hopkins.
