What is Ali-Frazier and PAc-JMM a testament to then?

    Very good point.
But Joe and Bernard did cancel each other out. Terrible bloody fight as a spectacle.

calzaghe clearly won but i would not care to see a rematch they are both good fighters who made each other look bad.
the styles did not make for entertainment.

    You are right.

The difference between them and Ali-Frazier is that both Joe and Hopkins are spoilers.

They win because their styles are akward and they spoil the opponents game. Both are good at it, Joe is just a bit better.

Neither Ali nor Frazier are spoilers. They try to be better than the opponent.

If you know football you know that the same principle applies there.

This topic is soooooo played out, BUT time time again i watch this i struggle to fathom how people score this a 117-111 or 116 or 112 to Calzaghe. YES he has world class work rate but his skills leave alot to be desired. No doubt he's a good fighter did he beat b hop? In my opinion its a resounding NO. 114-113 Bhop.

Many were saying X got tired cos he is old. He got tired cos Joe made him work. X showed he can fight a good 12 v Pavlik. Xs right hand kd woke Calzaghe up and he was aware of X's best tool - the lead right. Joe poured it on and yes his punches weren't nice looking but he outworked and outlanded X.

Scored the fight for Calzaghe. As much as I wanted Hopkins to win he was the one confused in there, never saw Hopkins look confused like that before and he knew he was losing in my opinion. I can understand why some people scored it for Hopkins since this is a fight that could go either way but to me it was Calzaghe who deserved the victory.

  9. I scored it (recently posted my scorecard i think) 9:3 (+1kd) for Joe.

It's a case where the rounds may be close - the fight wasnt... Joe was robbed of a UD in that fight, and I'd love to see the rematch so Joe can right that wrong. If bhop didnt score a Kd in this fight - and it played out similar to last time, I'm not sure how Hopkins could expect a win - it was only the KD that so many people found it a way to score for him really...

Calzaghe by three was my score. I've never quite understood the cries of robbery, most people who had Hopkins winning had him ahead by 1. A split was probably fair to reflect the difference in opinions but the right man won.

calzaghe the spoiler??? never heard that one before. it seemed to me bernard was the main spoiler in their. calzaghes throws many punches and usually looks brilliant with hes combinations etc. i.e lacy, kessler, rjj etc. however this fight the serial spoiler bhop struck again! and the fight was very scrappy

Calzaghe was the obviosu winner this one, if the ref done a less crooked job and took atleast one point away it wouldnt be close in the slightest.

It was Hopkins who made the fight a **** watch, nobody else.

hes skills left to be desired in that fight yes...but thats about it. everytime ive seen him hes skills stand out and he usually is very pleasing to watch. Again i have no idea where you had hopkins winning, he didnt win the fight....but then u say 'a resounding NO' and score it 114-113 hop..........not exactly resounding
