    thanks man ,did you watch the countdown to hopkins calzaghe, it is showing bernard hopkins controlling the ring with a sort of philly shell defense, which basically is on the back foot with on arm across the face and one arm protecting body which leaves opponents ina countering position, then it shows you calzages training of him punching this punch bag at very very close range , with joes dad shouting yes he is the best in the world! the way joe is going into this fight i just feel evreything is gunna go against him , Bernards dedication to this fight is just greater than calzaghes i think!

    I think Enzo is very good at getting his foghters into excellent physical condition but beyond that I have great doubts about his 'best trainer in the sport' accolade. The only fight that we have seen any sort of tactical master class from him was Lacy-Calzaghe and I think that was by default as Lacy just fought 100% the wrong fight. Recently we've seen Macca and Rees both box with tactical naivety and at a recent press conference Enzo C proclaimed he had only seen one video of Hopkins and just 'knew' how to beat him. That is called believing your own hype and I have seen no evidance to support this incredible gift of been able to train champions.

    Enzo's incredible winning run and the world champions he's produced has been as much to do with Sports Networks questionable matchmaking as it was his gifts as a trainer. The only fighter that has made great improvements in recent times has been Bradley Pryce but realistically Pryces conditioning is the only area of his game to significantly improve leading to his great improvement in form.

    They don't call me doubting Thomas for nothing :)

    I still haven't been able to watch the hopkins V Taylor fights so can't really offer an opinion on them. To anyone who has seen them though;

    How was Jermain able to outwork hopkins and get the decision, if Hopkins is so good at making you fight at his pace?

    That is a serious question, not trying to get a reaction. I'll try and find those fights on the web tonight and see for myself.

    I say it because, for the most part, people agree that taylor was able to beat him (in the first fight) because he was more athletic and he outworked him.

    Cheers for the info.

    you just like calzaghe totally underestimate hopkins, ur righting hopkins off because of his age, calzaghe has never fought a fighter as big or as credible as hopkins he really will lose this 1, you think hopkins will unlikely pull the up set i think calzaghe can hardly pull the upset of beating b hop!

    No probs flux... its a simple disagreement of opinion i'm old and wise enough to realise that. All i'll say is that do not expect Hopkins to stand there like a rabbit in headlights when Zaggy of lands a flurry like most of his other opponents have.

    Well Hopkins has adavntages which calzaghe doesnt, how about fighting at a weight which calzaghe has never fought in, a location which calzaghe has never fought in!, judges wont be more taken by the home fighter in which close rounds go to joe, Hopkins is a great fighter in which his age has not really been much of a factor in his performances, joe hasnt got a defence as good as winky n hopkins still managed to land more fluent effective punchs, calzaghe has a good offense more better than winky but he is sloppy and quite a lot of his punchs are off timed and not accurate which gives hopkins alot of countering oppertunitys, look at calzaghes last fight mikkel kessler was still able to win rounds from due to joes in accurate punchs and his countering just imagine to what b hop can do to calzaghe given them oppertunitys, im not saying he will stop him but b hop will win this fight!

    Calzaghe TKO9.

    I think we're gonna see vintage Calzaghe on Saturday night and I think the step up in weight will do him good. He'll be stronger at his more natural weight and his underrated power when he lets his hands go will surprise Hopkins.

    I really do not think the weight is an issue. Fighters like Hatton sturggle moving uo because there tacrtics is to bully an opponent by using extra strentgh, calzaghe does not do this. He uses speed, which by all accounts he has not lost as he will go into the ring at 175!

    Yes, it's a totally different thing to Hatton. Hatton had to bulk up to 147.

    Calzaghe just doesn't have to lose as much weight before the fight meaning he will quite possibly be stronger come fight night.

    He will come in at around 180 in my opinion.
