Without boring anyone with a long drawn prediction I like a hopkins UD 117-113 perhaps 116-114.... Either way the more Calzaghe gets frustrated the more he will play into Hopkins hands. Yours Teddy?

Obviously I want the Zagster to win. But if Hopkins wins and proves me right plus elevates me to number one in the world on Facebook Boxpicks then I won't be utterly disappointed.

My prediction is for a close decision win for Joe 115-113. Even though they are fighting on Hopkins 'turf', I get the feeling that any close rounds will be scored in Joes favour as he will have the workrate, whereas Bernard will have the arguably 'cleaner' connects. This will of course, like any close decision lead to the to cries of '**ROBBED!!** WTF!!!' e.t.c on the general forum Sunday morning.

People are going to be suprised by how one sided this is. Calzaghe will start off cautiously behind the jab, keeping his punches straight. Hopkins has nothing if Joe jabs. What is he going to do in response? He is relying on Joe's mistakes in this fight. People talk about Hopkins countering when Joe is off balance or winging in wide shots. What if he fights behind the jab similar to the adjustment made against Kessler? Joe will pick up the early rounds easy

Hopkins will be drawn out of his shell in desperation, and the difference in speed and stamina will be evident. Calzaghe will be able to really put his punches together once he has built a lead, and this is where the stoppage is possible if Joe has added power at 175 and sits on his punches as he has indicated. I'd bet on a wide decision though

I think this fight will be decided by Hopkins' timing and patience. He needs to lure Joe in by standing in the pocket with a rock solid defence - wait for Joe to start unloading the combinations and plant a nice big right hand on his jaw. He needs to do this repeatedly and not get flustered by the amount of punches Calzaghe throws. If he keeps his head cool and doesn't get behind on the cards, he can win this fight.

I think alot of posters are looking at Hopkins age as a deciding factor, Hopkins is a very cagey fighter, after seeing what Tarver did to Woods, and thinking Hopkins done the same to Tarver, i seriously believe Hopkins will have a game plan that will nulify the sp style of Calzaghe. I think it will be a Hopkins win by UD..

How much are we basing Joe's chances on his wins over Lacy and Kessler? Lacy is now widely considered to have been limited all along. It sounds almost churlish but how good was Kessler really? A quick scan of his record on boxrec reveals no formidable names from ove the pond and let's be honest, the boxers on that side of the pond tend to have subtle superior skills at the highest level, which would explain why the best from Europe usuall are no match for the best US (or Mexican at the lighter divisions).

Just been watching Reid-Calzaghe and thats settled it for me. As soon as Reid starts throwing lead right hands it becomes an even fight!!! It took him 4 rounds to realise this but then he took the majority of rounds after that. Ask yourself this.... Did Kessler have sucess only with his right hand? Yes! Hopkins W12.

I admire your punchiness Jeff but you are almost certainly suffering from spontaneous eroneous judgement disorder. I hope you get better soon.

The more you pick Hopkins the easier Calzaghe wins.

    I'm picking Hopkins then.

Calzaghe is a very different fighter now to the one that fought Reid! Your also judging him on his worst ever perfromance.

Something to add, if warren wanted calzaghe to look good to HBO, why the **** did he pick Sakio Bika! He should have done the ibf manadatory instead!

    Hi Jeff

I can't believe that you are using the Reid - Calzaghe match to settle this for you.

IMO the perfomance from Calzaghe that night was not one of his best, as where That was One of the best if not the best i've seen from Reid.

Being a Pro boxer yourself, i don't think you would want people to judge you on an up and coming fight you may be having, just by watching one of your not so good performances. I'm sure you've had off nights just like any other boxer, and may have had a close fight that you have lost, but possibly should have won.

I respect you for getting in the ring, but i think you are being a bit harsh on JC just by watching the Reid fight, i mean, look how long ago that was for a start. He probably learned a lot from that fight as well.

I'm not saying that you are wrong for picking Hopkins, just not for the reason are you are doing so.
