    I'm British, I'm a Calzaghe fan, I'm patriotic.....but i'm also a realist.

I have to concede the following - Hopkins through the cleaner punches, made Joe look average, made Joe miss, slap, low blow and desperate.

After watching this fight I have to concede, Hopkins was the better fighter on the day.

    Hats off to you Bernard!!!!

    Enough said.

About as transparent as nicely polished glass. I predict the poster "cassius" will make about 23 posts on total before dissapearing.
A lot of newbies appear around the big fights, am I cynical to think fans of both fighters register fake accounts?

I was rooting for Hopkins. But after a good start, Hopkins didn't dominate the late rounds like he had done against Taylor and Wright. That was his downfall.

Some Hopkins fans thought Calzaghe won. Some Calzaghe fans thought Hopkins won. Some people who didn't care had it for Hopkins, and other for Calzaghe. Others had it a draw.

I think it's safe and fair to say that it was a close fight, and whom you thought won depends quite a bit on preference of a certain style.

Oh you are my ****ing hero, you have so many posts. Knob!

If you want to talk Salvador Sanchez, there's a classic forum to the right of your screen.

It's just kind of funny, you having an acount for over a year with only a couple of posts. :yep

Cynical maybe, I'm just me, exactly as I explained. You can take your opinion and spin. I am entitled as much as you are, to make my post.

    OK. Be that way. :bart

But the reality is that the Calzaghe-Hopkins decision was fair because Hopkins workrate plummeted in the later rounds. It was a fine fight, both fought fairly well, but it's Calzaghe who is going to fight Jones for big money, and Hopkins left questiong his next move.

    :tired

He was the better fighter when it really mattered - in the first rounds, when they were both fresh. After the first rounds, instead of taking his beating like a man, making a fight of it and becoming the moral victor, he started cheating in a despicable way and killed the fight. This is why, overall, Calzaghe's the moral and actual victor. He beat Hopkins despite everything. But Hopkins did expose some of his limitations, unfortunately for Calzaghe. Should have done better.

Ok I appreciate your fair comment. After watching the fight for the third time I just saw Hopkins as a very talented and shrewd fighter. Nothing Joe did bothered him in my opinion. Regardless of all that, I'm sorry if i came across rude. :good

    Cool. I was just kidding.

But I just think when it's all said and done, the decision was correct just because Calzaghe was more active, and generally more effective in the later portions. He didn't necessarily hurt Hopkins the way B-Hop did in the first, but he did land punches.

The power of those punches was debatable, but hey, landing is landing.

Yes, after the 4th round Joe took over. His workrate went up, he
started connecting with his right jab and backing Bernard up and
even shortened up his left handed punches. By mid fight Joe was
even doing better in the clinches with an impressive display of dirty
boxing to offset Hopkins fouling. All this after being hurt in the first
round. Any scrub can be a frontrunner but a true champ comes back
from adversity like Joe, adjusts his gameplan and takes over. Joe
starts to really manhandle Hopkins in the later rounds and a gassed
Bernard starts faking low blows to get rest periods. Joe calls his
bluff and plays to the crowd. Joe won the physical and psychological
battle. Like Lederman, HBO's judge said, "This isn't a hard fight
to judge." Joe 116-111. A dominant display by Calzaghe.
