    JOE Calzaghe's Resume

    Roy Jones Jr UD 12 record going in 52-4-0 just came off 3 staight wins was past his prime but so is JOE( joe was down in first and was hurt but got up and foguht on

    Bernard Hopkins Sd 12 record going in 48-4-1 came off 2 straight wins was thought to be shot but just schooled Pavlik.(joe was never hurt even when he was knocked down and took over after 4

    Mikkel Kessler UD 12 Record going in 39-0-0 (29 ko) was undefeated and just came off from shutting out Andrade and Ko's Beyer to unify.

    :rofl Peter Manfredo Jr TKO 3 record going in 26-3-0 (no win to be proud of :-( ) but had come off 2 straight wins both by ko in 3 over pemberton and Spina not a notable win but you included it


    Sakio Bika UD 12 record going in 20-1-2 coming off a draw to beyer and a Ko win in 5 over Araki. is the current Contender champion at 168
    Ko'd Coddington in 8 and Mafredo in 3. has a loss to Bute and avenged a loss to SAm soliman

    Jeff Lacy UD 12 record going in 21-0-0 coming of a Ko win over pemberton in 2 TKo over Robin Reid in 8. was favoured to demolish joe.
    We all Know what happened here.


    Omar Shieka TKO 5 record going into fight 20-1-0 just came off a 10 rd MD over Glen johnson and a 8 UD over Simon Brown.

    Mario Viet(2x) TKO in 1 and 6 Record going into 1st fight 30-0-0 coming off a TKo over Carl crock man in 4 and a ko in 3 over Errol Mcdonald. in 2nd fight was coming off of a 9 round Tko win over Charles Brewer an a 8 ud over Lolenga Mock.

    Byron Mitchell TKO 2 record going in 25-2-1 was coming off a 12 SD loss to Ottke :-( and a 4 round tko overJulio Green and a 12 round Sd over manny Siaca who he had already ko'd in 12

    Robin REID SD 12 record going into fight 26-1-1 was coming off a Tko win over Townsend. was robbed in a fight with Ottke


    Chris Eubank UD 12 record going into fight 45-2-2. NEed i say more

    Jeff Lacy UD 12 record going into fight 24-1-0 was coming off of 3 straight wins. good win for taylor.(IMHO JOE WIn was far more dominant.)

    Kelly Pavlik Loss (2x) TKO in 7 & 12 UD record going into fight was undefeated with a 90% Ko rato. was recently beaten by Hopkins who Taylor beat himself 2x by close decsions.

    Cory Spinks SD 12 record going into fight was 36-3-0 coming off a 12 ud over Rodney jones and a 12 round MD over Roman Karmazin. close win For JT

    Bernard Hopkins 2x 1st fight 12rd SD 2nd Fight 12rd ud record going into fight does it really matter?
    BErnard was champ for 20years and was making the 21st defence of his MW title.
    2 very close highly dsiputed wins for Taylor. but a W is a W


    Ronald Wright 12rd DRAW. record going into fight 50-3-0 ,.very close fight depends on what you like. most thought Wright earned the w. but it really could of gone either way. was coming off 2 ud wins one over Soliman and one over Trinandad.


    Kassim Ouma 12rd UD record going into fight was 25-2-1 coming off 2 12rd wins 1 a ud over Sechew Powell and a SD over Marco Antonio Rubio


    William Joppy 12rd Ud record going into fight 34-3-1. was coming off a 12UD Beating by B-Hop.


    Raul Marquez tko rd 9. record going into fight was 35-2-0 coming off a ko win in w over a journey man and had a 3 rd NC with shane mosley before that


    Alex Bunema tko 7rd record going into fight 24-3-2. was coming off a 212 ud 's over good opponets

    Neither has an outstanding resume but the difference is Taylor is 27 and Joe is 36 and to be even comparing the two doesn't say a lot for Joe. IMO, his two only good wins on resume are Hopkins and Kessler. Lacy was never good and wasn't ruined by Calzaghe he was just overhyped. Eubank was washed up and had to cut 20 punds in two weeks time. Bika is a decent win but Reid, Brewer and Mitchell aren't that good. Mario Viet had a padded record over other average fighters.

    Taylor doesn't have the better resume yet but he beat Hopkins twice, drew with Winky, beat former champs such as Spinks, Bunema, Ouma, Joppy and recently beat Calzaghe's third best win Lacy in a great perfromance. Jermain in the future, will certainly surpass Calzaghe's resume and could even jump him on ATG list 15 years from now.

    taylor win over lacy was not as dominant as JOe's. and he fiaked to even knock down lacy. and spinks ,buenma,ouma were not 160 lb fighters

    joe's wins are far better and so are the fighters he beat

    Right this minute, Joe's resume is better. Taylor has 10 years to pass Joe though, and honestly, his resume is only 2 or 3 fights behind Joe's at this point, if he can get the wins.

    I wouldn't use these fighters in a debate about how good taylors resume is. Spinks a former welterweight champ who was not and never will be a middleweight, a washed up joppy if your gonna say eubank was washed up. And you point out that the highlighted fighters were former world champions, only 1 of which was a middleweight, and in addition reid brewer and mitchell were all former world champions.

    Granted Calzaghes resume is not 'star studded' but is solid and full of impressive victories. Taylors is good, however, he was criticised for taking on small men after winky.Plus i think another defeat means he will not be taken seriously anymore, and i believe froch and kessler are both capable of handing it to him. Your point about his resume becoming even better is a bit far fetched as he has to take on joes old stomping ground at 168 where the best fighter is kessler who joe beat, then 175 where joe beat 2 legends. gonna be hard to improve on that unless he beats the same fighters when they are 5 yrs older!

    in summary calzaghes resume is not the best, i believe hopkins is better slightly, but in comparison to taylors he beats him hands down.

    not even close he has 2 wins over bernard and a draw with winky aand a win over spinks a former undisputed WW champ.

    ouma,Buenma,Marquez,joppy are not comparrible to reid,mitchell,brewer,sheika,Viet,Bika,. then you have lacy who joe beat and destroyed.

    kessler, hopkins and jones.


    jt has a chance to surpass but he needs more like 7-8 fights against the elite at 168 and 175

    When Joe beat Hopkins it was a good win but when he beat Jones, we could all see how shot Roy was. Joppy wasn't as past it as Eubank when Taylor fought him. Same fighters? Kessler, Lacy, Bika and that's about it. He may not even have to fight Bika. The division is much deeper now than it ever was and the top 10 is actually filled with worthy fighters. Taylor within the future can still fight Froch, Kessler, Andrade, Bute, Mundine, Dirrel and Inkin who all could be possible opponents down the line.

    He already has two losses, a draw and disputable wins over two midgets.

    He really has to go some to surpass Calzaghe's resume, because Taylor's is full of holes at the moment.

    True, but those 2-3 wins would have to be Kessler and similar. Taylor could even get a stab at Calzaghe, if he manages to get the Kessler fight and wins. Tough odds, but that's the way it is when you play for a lot of glory, there is a lot of risk.

    The win over Hopkins is probably Joes best win, and Taylor did that twice before he did.

    At this moment in time it's probably Joe but surprisingly there is not a huge amount in it.
