How come he didn't fold like a lawnchair when he faced Jorge Castro or Montell Griffin etc..?

He can not adapt during a fight if plan A isn't working? Explain this for me please?

 

maybe in the joe calzaghe household but not anywhere else. calzaghe will never, ever be talked about when fans talk about the greats, jones will. i think you understand that.

look at the calzaghe fight. when plan A didn't work he got his ears boxed off. look at the adaptabiliy of calzaghe in that fight :deal once he realised that all jones has in his locker is forearm smashes, calzaghe gets on his toes, drops his hands and lacyies jones all over the squared circle in exhibition mode

 

real boxing experts will remember jones as a steroid riddled, glass jawed disgrace who spent years ducking because he couldn't adapt in the ring and fell to pieces whenever he face adversity :deal

 

ohhhh you're just uing a nearly 40 year old Jones as your example...i get it now.

 

Unfortunately, Roy Jones will primarily be remembered for a few unflattering key issues;

1. Ending up with by far the most horrifically delicate sugar glass mandible the world has ever seen on a HOF fighter.

2. Having the most bogus "undisputed" world championship run in the history of the sport.

3. Magically managing to avoid the majority of his best rivals throughout his whole career.

4. Being belatedly exposed as a proven steroids cheat, after it initially, and disgracefully being brushed under the carpet.

And that's assuming he hasn't already suffered severe permanent brain damage.

 

@Commando: This far you are getting owned in your own thread. Putting up an attitude alone wont change that. It is a popular sport to hate on some boxers and praise others. I understand you feel it gets tricky when someone brings some shades of gray into your (somewhat) norrow minded view of reality.

Roj Jones is not as perfect as you like him to be.

Calzaghe was not as useless as you want him to be either.

Both where great, though. Great boxers and great entertainers. Just wish Roy could have realised when it was time for him to hung up his gloves.

No that's just how dense ****s will remember him. Real boxing fans will remember him as the most incredible fighter of his generation.

Slappy Joe on the other hand will be remembered as a foot-note, nothing more. Joe will also be remembered as the man who spent years ducking...not Jones.
