People shouldnt write Jones off. They are pretty much the same age and both past it.

    This is true...unfortunately...

No. no. no. no. no. no. Why do people keep saying this? Watch Joe, watch his fights, he nearly always ducks to the side as he comes in, almost always - at belt height too. Jones will not catch him with any bull**** check-hook.

Forget Jones' left hook, it'll be redundant come the fight perhaps serving only as a setup to other things.

I still hope Jones wins though :thumbsup

Yeah i'm sure that Calzaghe loses to Tarver and Johnson ... hell Calzaghe backed out of a fight with Johnson and then choose to fight Sakio Bika.

So far in this thread Jones, Hopkins, Toney, Pavlik, Tarver, Johnson all beat Joe.

**** me... thats a lot of people taht beat a guy thats undeafeated in 17 years or so.

What have all those guys got in common? Oh thats it... all American, how ****ing predictable of the haters.

He never fought guys like that ... so of course there's a chance that they beat Joe.

I'll take Pavlik and Hopkins out of the equation ...

I'll say Dawson can beat Calzaghe as well --

Nah I personally wouldn't put Dawson ahead of Joe I've never really rated him i think a good technical boxer easily exposes Dawson who had enough trouble with Johnson who was what? 40+? o_O:D

Age doesn't mean anything when you get on their level ... they depend more on experience and skill ...

The main factors are Jones is shot, Calzaghe is semi-shot, but still fighting at a much higher level.

Yeah too right he never fought guys like Johnson. People with his record at SMW dont get title shots. So he fought a guy who had just beaten him and gave him a good beating.

Just admit it, you think anyone American is automatically better than Calzaghe, even if he has already beaten them as is the case with Hopkins.

Other than prime Jones, Joe would beat all of em.

You should not be taken serious when it comes to ANY Calzaghe thread. You have not only proved your bias against him, but that you're also a douchebag.

You want to talk about American bias but you are just as bad with Calzaghe. How does he beat a Prime Toney or Hopkins for that matter? He barely got by Hopkins and Toney is too slick and would counter him all night.

    Myth.

Clear win for Calzaghe. Hopkins did **** all but hold and land 3 punches a round.

It still doesn't change the fact that he would beat a prime B-HOP.

the key to beating calzage is timing accuracy and activity...;ets be honest joe has won fights in the past on pure workrate alone so you're workrate needs to be high or you have no chance on the scorecards..he throws punches wide and is square on but his biggest flaws is is that sometimes whilst coming in he plants his feet which exposes the above weaknesses making him exposed to counter rights...if roy can time his punches correctly he can score enough points and has enough power to get calzaghes respect its just at his age does he have the gas in the tank to fight at the pace calzaghe fights at for 12 whole rounds and i just dont think he has the legs for it
