i take calzaghe on this one=just picture b-hop w/calzaghe only jones will try to be a little more brave and ends up taking serious punishment. in his prime jones humiliates joe though!!!!!!

because prime toney is such a reliable guy right? what version is prime toney by the way? the one that got a gift against dave tiberi?

toney can most certainly win but it's no given.

One thing that we can be certain of, is that Roy will be more motivated than he has been in years. When he fought Tarver and Johnson there was a sense of entitlement about him that may have made him underestimate the threat. This time he will be the underdog, and he knows that if he can pull it off, he will be back on top, but also that he will have to work hard to do so.

Is this enough for Jones to turn back time? Probably not all the way back to prime, but Calzaghe is past it as well, and Jones may be motivated just enough for him to do a number on Joe.

I hope this is the case. I'm a big Calzaghe fan, but JC is no RJJ. Roy Jones deserves to go out on a high note. More so than Joe Calzaghe.

How about Calzaghe's gift over Robin Reid?

Your a Boxrec fanatic and most likely haven't seen much of Toney. How about his wins over Nunn, Reggie Johnson, McCallum, DeWitt and Barkely. These wins alone are much better than Calzaghe's.

James Toney is slick counter puncher who has trained under the chief sparring mate of Ezzard Charles. When Joe comes in with his flurries Toney will slip and counter the sqaured up Joe all night.

Joe vs prime Toney is a fight that could never have happened. By the time Joe got to the world stage Toney had been a cruiserweight for sometime. If you want to compare vs him you may as well go back and compare Joe to Monzon or Charles.

I suppose Toney would be too slick for Thadzi and Griffin too.... oh sorry, perhaps he wasnt perfect afterall. Now a fight with a SMW Toney would not be a forgone conclusion for Joe, but prime JC is quite simply a better fighter than Toney was at that weight. Granted I'd fancy Toney at either middleweight as Joe was always too big for it, or cruiser and above because Joe couldnt eat enough or take enough roids.

How does he beat prime Hopkins? By slapping the snot out of him everytime he tried to do anything other than hug. Sound familiar?

calzaghe-reid looked like a clear win for calzaghe compared to toney's "win" over tiberi. you also forget to mention that calzaghe broke his hand in that bout. reid was also a vastly superior fighter to tiberi.

for the record i am currently working through a toney dvd set, so you can put your soapbox away.

wanna make excuses for joe then you might wanna consider toney had to get down from 200 pounds for most of his fights and was weight drained

    What do you mean?
Calzaghe fought a great fight against Eubank, he put him down in the 1st.

It was close but a clear win for Joe.

And dont listen to what a corner says to motivate their man as an actual judement on how he thought the fight went.

Breaking his hand still doesn't change the fact he got a gift with Reid. Him breaking his hands is his problem not the Judges or Reid's.

Yet, you still haven't backed up your arguement about Joe. Beacuse there is no arguement.

You know what Reid said after the fight? Joe was too fast me.

Had Joe not broke his hand it would have been a big win, as it was the score flatered reid.
