'Every great fighter has one great fight left in him.'

This is one of those times when I really want to believe that old saying.

Sadly, I think the chances of Jones pulling a win off range between slim and none. In fact, in his case the saying should have been 'every great fighter has one great round left in him', because the very last time I saw the old glory flare up was in the fifth round of the third and final fight with Tarver. The flashiness, the speed, the combinations, the casual mastery and taunting, going to the body, going to the head, outfighting Tarver in the middle of the ring and even outfighting him off the ropes and firing uppercuts. That's the last time I saw a flash of that old greatness. The round in question is here if anyone hasn't seen it, by the way.

Jones isn't completely shot right now, but he's close. This fight is going to be utterly one-sided for Calzaghe (who is past his prime too, but has much more left in the tank) which is a shame. I would have loved to have seen the fight when both men were in their primes.

MSG is probably a good venue for this, but I'm surprised Joe didn't insist on fighting in the Cardiff DUCK pond!

This fight will be different than the Hopkins fight because RJJ doesn't have the same defensive style. This fight should be more entertaining. It won't be the Lacy fight part two because Cal's hands have taken a turn for the worse since that fight. He hasn't scored a KO in how many fights? RJJ has the power to knock out Cal, but I am not sure he'll be able to pull it off.

He beat Kessler just 9 months ago. All this past prime stuff is based on Hopkins making Joe look bad. Nearly everyone after the Kessler fight were saying that joe has impoved as a boxer with age!

RJJ was getting ktfo 4 years ago by Tarver twice and Glen Johnson. He was shot to **** even back then.

3 years is also a big difference when your in your late 30s; It's not like in your 20s.

I dont buy all this, "oh joe is way past his prime" stuff, its simply an early excuse for Joe. It's a fight he should dominate and win at a canter.

He is 1/5 on to win this fight with the bookies. If they were both way past there prime that simply wouldnt be the case.

All reasons Joe should be fighting a live body.

After the Kessler fight many on here were claiming Joe as a timeless champion who looked better than ever! All this "Joe is past it" **** is a complete reversal, and a perfect example of why Pavlik said he wanted Joe "before he gets one day older."

Joe called Pavlik out multiple times. Kelly said yes. Arum and Warren both got exctited about making the fight for October. Joe had nothing to say except quack, quack, quack! (Translation: "Frank, you're fired!)

As I stated here a some time ago - it was obvious the Spetember 20th date would be cancelled

history repeats itself time and time again

and with Joe Calzaghe you know cancelled dates is a obvious one
