At super middle prime for prime. Now I am not a delusional Calzaghe nuthugger who considers him invincible after beating kessler, but I think it misguided to predict a RJJ win as a foregone conclusion. Sure, he was a beast at SM, but ****, so is Calzaghe, he is now regarded as the GOAT at the weight, so you cannot just simply write him off.

Obviously RJJ has the edge in speed, and power, though Calzaghe is about as fast as they come, he can compete with Jones speed. He is also a very busy fighter, and has superb stamina and workrate, plus a proven chin. IMHO the odds are 70-30 in Jones' favour, it would be an intriguing matchup, and one by no means impossible for joe to pull off

Calzaghe is a great fighter. He proved that against Kessler (for some, earlier). But because some of his great fights are in recent memory, espeically the Kessler one being last night, then perhaps Calzaghe is at the fore front of the mind. And maybe a tape or 2 of Roy back in his day at 168 would do a good deal (rather than what he's shown in the last few years).

It'd be a great, competitive fight. But just like Calzaghe-Kessler, in the end Roy would end up winning pretty comfortably on the scorecards. 9-3, 8-4 type fight.

Joe wins because he'd the greatest fighter ever!! I mean he really showed us how great he is last nite. It's too bad we don't have a time machine. I would match up Joe with Ali any day. Joe wins a tough fight. Ali could just not handle Joe's power. Calzaghe Kos Ali in the 11th rd. Nothing left to do for Joe now except maybe sit atop a mountain while flocks of people come from all over the world to kiss his feet while a group of fine bitches hand feed him whatever he wants. enough said thread over:good

If you add all the postives Jones has over Calzaghe then add the home advantage (Calzaghe's flying)...only one winner here. Jones.

Prime RJJ is the one fighter with the skill, speed and power to break Calzaghe's heart at super middleweight; possibly with a rib shattering bodyshot ala the Virgil Hill KO.

But, if Calzaghe avoids getting KO'ed, and pushes Jones in to the trenches in the later rounds...................one cannot totally dismiss the idea that Calzaghe would wear Jones down against the ropes and eventually stop him.

    Glen Johnson TKO9 Roy Jones

I understand that RJJ was shot by that point, but you cannot deny that a prime Calzaghe has at least a CHANCE of getting to a prime RJJ and stopping him late :deal

    I give it 70:30 in RJJ's favour

But alot of Calzaghe huggers will just say, well Jones avoided Calzaghe (meaning he didn't want to fly over to Cardiff):-(

RJJ by UD possible late TKO, Calzaghe is a great fighter and the best ever at Super Middle (based on achievements not h2h) but i just don't see how he could possible beat Jones.

Nah most of them recognize that Jones had everything at 168. He was a physical beast at 168. Fastest hands with superb power and skill. Jones could of dominated 168 if he wanted to.

And 31 year old Calzaghe would've beaten 34 year old RJJ in 2003 at light heavyweight :deal

Forget styles. Think about Calzaghe's heart. He could do it. A green Hopkins was doing well-- why can't a prime Calzaghe make it close?

Joe is a great fighter however Jones was just a freak of nature. Roy Jones via UD 116-112. He can do everything Joe can do and better

Hopkins wasn't green. Being an old man now doesn't mean he was green at 28.
