Its funny, this fight was complete opposite to what I was expecting.

I thought it would be Kessler dominating on the outside and Calzaghe doing well on the inside. I thought Calzaghe would want to trade and Kessler would want to keep it on the outside.

But Calzaghe was the boxer and Kessler was trying to get on the inside. When they traded Kessler was doing his best work, and when they boxed Calzaghe was doing great.

Thats one reason boxing is so cool to watch....you never know how its going to go.

When I saw this thread right now and read the opening post, I thought, yeah, everyones a genius in hindsight. Then I noticed the date.

JC is an ATG, for sure. He has flat out beat anyone put in front of him. Great boxer and fighter. The best at every aspect of boxing in history? That's stupid. Don't get me wrong, he is the bomb and I would take him over anyone else today at SMW but jesus christ...the best at everything ever? please...I can name people faster, stronger and with more punching powere pfp right now, even at that weight. JC just puts all his skills together phenomenally well. Best of all time? No. Has he convinced me he is in an absolute masterclass of boxing? Yes.

 

I´ll have to rewatch the fight, but as I remember it Kessler actually was better than Joe in in-fighting. It seemed to me that everything was upside down in this fight as Joe was dominating from the distance.
