Out of the 49 people who have voted Calzaghe, at least half of you are lying mother ****ers.
I joined this forum at the time of that fight and there were only a handful of us picking Joe, I used to argue with ray gordon reid about it, he called Joe Josephine I called Lacy hype, Good times. I grew to like Ray and miss seeing his posts.

I said that it was a 50/50 fight which, looking back, was basically as ludicrous as picking Lacy outright. I felt that Joe was on the downside when the truth was that he was just fighting down to the opposition.

I picked Calzaghe based on his short reach and superior inside ability. Of course, I also picked him to win by a close decision. :patsch

me. i thought he would whip calzaghe apart. calzaghe isn't impressive at all in my opinion. i always knew lacy's boxing skill wasn't too good, but he is a good fighter that hits hard, sorta like tyson. still to this day i think calzaghe sucks, ESPECIALLY after his "win" w/ hopkins. i know hopkins didn't push the pace or nething and most of the action was cus cal made a move, but hopkins embarrassed the HELL out of him in there. i have seen 4 year olds throw better punches then some of the punches cal was throwing.

I went to this fight , i was convinced Calzaghe would beat Lacy and was proved right , over on the main board i and a handful of others took a whole heap of crap pre fight and were thought of as being quie insane predicting Calzaghe , i read this board @ the time and no fooking way was it seen as a 50-50 fight . LMFAO

I thought Lacy would win, I thopught he would have too much for Joe. Although I wanted Calzaghe to win... Which he did. :)
I think people forget how Lacy was the new fighter to watch everybody thought he would be in the top 3 p4p fighters in the world, within a few years. People also forget that he was actualy a very good fighter, but Joe destroyed his career that night, McGuigan said 10 minutes after the fight that Lacy would never be the same again.

Lacy couldn't have possibly come away from that fight without some type of long-term career damage. If I were Birmingham I would have kept Jeff in the corner after the 9th round. Not saying it would have made a big difference but it would have saved his fighter from 3 more rounds of unnecessary punishment.

Who did I want to win? Joe
Who did I think would win? Jeff by early KO

There were a fair share of people who picked Calzaghe but there were a lot more picking Lacy for sure, many of them by a brutal KO within the first 3 rounds

I picked Calzaghe by 11th round TKO, I also remember Zakman telling people Calzaghe was going to win and a lot easier than most expected. Then there were the usual Calzaghe/Euro haters who were talking a massive amount of **** before the fight and were nowhere to be found afterwards

Do you know that Lacy now blames his promoter? He is still delusional enough to believe that he would have knocked out Calzaghe if the fight had been staged in America! :nut

I was one of the relatively few who picked Calzaghe in the fight. What was most ludicrous were all the fanboys fawning over Lacy's chiseled physique, thinking that alone meant he would roll over the less impressive-looking Calzaghe. Like boxing is some kind of bodybuilding contest or something!!! :patsch
