Calzaghe struggled vs the slower older Hopkins.

IMO Calzaghe was a fighter with a lot of talent but one who lacked belief he could beat the very best. Which is why he

Monzon will pressure him, hit him with hard jabs and knock him down with a right hand.

I can see Calzaghe taking a couple of early rounds due to his speed but he isn't beating Monzon.

    Monzon UD 15

Calzaghe is far too big for him. Calzaghe early. Its a 160lber against a 185lber.

Calzaghe coming in at that weight I'm thinking that gives a advantage to monzon I think this would be a competitive fight but monzon takes a clear decision

He's throw Carlos around like a ragdoll and not be phased by shots.

As much as I love Monzon I like Calzaghe in this one by UD. His hand speed, size and movement help him win more rounds. Calzaghe also was very underated in the toughness department. I believe he was every but as special as Monzon.

I have to go with Carlos Monzon on this one, Calzaghe was a very talented champion, but Carlos would have his hands full early. Around the 10th round, Monzon finds his stride with his hard left jab, and starts to counter Calzaghe's blows, setting up the right hand. Carlos was good at cutting off the ring as he did to Jean Claude Bouttier and Tony Licata, who used foot movement early. Carlos comes on to win a very close majority decision in this one which is no walk in the park.

Calzaghe chin was good at 168, and Monzon, while I think didn't fight many natural punchers at 160 was durable too. I'd give Monzon the durability edge, but the tend to doubt this one has a stoppage either way. Neither man was ever stopped.

This one is going to come down to speed, skills, defense, and footwork. Clazahge isn't a blow up welter / jr middle for Monzon to feast on, relying on his size and reach to grind upon. Joe's got a big edge in speed. He's just as active, maybe more active. Joe's also very hard to catch cleanly, and has that off rhythm style making him unpredictable

I think Calzaghe wins convincingly, and frustrates Monzon, and his fans. Monzon might with a round or two by the bigger margins, but in at the final bell, I see it 9 rounds for Calzaghe, 5 rounds for Monzon and 1 round even.

The Calzaghe worship is sickening on this forum at times.

He's a difficult fight for Monzon based on his size, and quickness, but no way I can see him winning.

Way too many holes in Joe's game that Carlos could, and would exploit.

Guy went life and death with Robin Reid, and is being picked over Monzon. Go figure.

Monzon by UD. Joe would fight him close for 8 rounds, but 9-15 Monzon totally takes over.

You know what is sickening is your condescending BS at times. Don't act like if someone picks Calzaghe to win they somehow are not as enlightened as you. I'm no Calzaghe worshiper but I am a fight fan with a valid opinion. So Calzaghe went life and death with Robin Reid. Reid was a pretty solid fighter in his prime that should have got the decision over Sven Ottke who is one of the most decorated amateur fighters over the last 30 years. Reid was no tomato can, he could fight. Look at the amount of draws on Monzon's record against way inferior fighters. Don't act like he was always some unbeatable monster. He certainly developed into one of the best fighters ever but he hit some bumps in the road along the way.

Again, I have no problem with someone picking Monzon to win. He is one of the most accomplished middleweights ever and a strong case can be made for him winning, just don't act like people are nut huggers for a fighter if they don't agree with you.

Calzaghe is very busy. But I have a feeling Monzon would be able to disrupt Calzaghe's rythm similar as Hopkins also did at times. Ring generalship. Monzon by competitive decision

This one would have split decision wrote all over it,, I tend to favor Joe's work rate plus his size advantage
