Im more interested in the winner of Taylor Pavlik next to be honest. Id rather fight a guy in his prime. They are the fights I get up for big, big fights. JC Seeing he gets past Hopkins, his last fight will probably be against Pavlik. And I guess JC will have to come back down in weight which could be a prob. How do you see the outcome?
I dont care for Hopkins vs Calzaghe. Clearly, Calzaghe is going to beat the old Hopkins. I want to see Pavlik - Calzaghe, I think Pavlik beats Calzaghe.
Thats a tough one, but Calzaghe by UD if I had to guess, I dont think Joe even hits as hard as a weight drained Miranda, but I think he's the better boxer out of the 2 of them. I do think Pavlik has type of power to knock anyone at 160-168, so I guess that would always give a punchers chance in there.
Its a great match up. Both men have huge hearts and pride. Calzaghe has the better chin and will exploit Pavliks weak defence and won't be an easy target but Pavlik is faster (and stronger?)than the Dane and never gives up I see both men hitting the canvas!
I'm waiting for the usual brigade of lads to come in here and say Pavlik knocks out Joe. Nobody knocks out Joe, nobody. You can knock him down, but he'll get right back up & school you. He is very similar to Carlos Monzon in heart & chin, when the **** hits the fan against him, you are in trouble.
I was trying to imagine JC getting brutally tagged and the ref stepping in- but actually I can't see it happening.
Pavlik by KO. Joe C will try to stay busy but the way Pavlik stays busy and keeps throwing with power in his hands, Joe C will get caught and he will get hurt.
None of Calzaghe's possible opponents in the near future excite me very much. :verysad He'll beat Hopkins in a boring fight. He'll dominate both Taylor and Pavlik. Never again in Calzaghe's career will there be the excitement that led up to the Kessler fight. Never again in Calzaghe's career will he be tested and pushed as in the Kessler fight. It may as well be over now.
Calzaghe seems to have an excellent chin. However, if he fights Pavlik the same way he fought Kessler and stays in the pocket too long it could be dangerous for him. Pavlik is not as fast as Calzaghe (even at 35) but he is quick enough to land a significant number of punches. Pavlik is so heavyhanded that everyone who fights him ends up looking as though they had been in a car wreck. I think it is a case of one man starting to peak and another man starting to decline slightly. Pavlik is an animal and will eat a lot of JC's shots. He will bleed from the nose and mouth. But by mid-rounds his early body attack will start to slow down the welshman. In the late rounds he will start to punish Calzaghe. With the heart of a lion he will fight back fiercely. But by the 12th round he will be a battered man. Calzaghe barely makes the final bell in a testament to his great conditioning, courage and pride. Pavlik wins on all cards. Pavlik UD 12 Calzaghe in a fight for the ages.
Completely agreed except i see Pavlik finishing the job. Pavlik can take a punch and his punches have tons of power on them. And it's not like he's a limited boxer. He has boxing skills to boot.
