I'm out of this thread. It is just another attempt of JC fans trying to rewrite history now that Kessler lost so badly to Ward. Have fun guys. I'm not sure how much of this is still on the internet to look up, but this was all documented in earlier threads here and I don't have time to rehash this. It is written. It won't change no matter how much you try.

First off,I believe that Calzaghe would have pitched a shutout against limited Pavlik. However, you're right. Here it is:Youtube.com/watch?v=AWDtzdAYTOA.I love Calzaghe's comments (although I hated those same comments later when he fought Jones because I used to be a Calzaghe fan)because they completely contradict what he has said when he signed to fight Jones. However, the funniest part is the BBC blond bimbo implying someone couldn't be a boxing legend because they have lost.Utterly hilarious.

That's exactly my point in the two posts I made, Calzaghe's trash talking is the most pathetic anyone has ever seen, literally. One minute he would say someone isn't worth nothing the next minute he's the best opponent ever and 100% prime material, like he did with Jones, Pavlik and others. There was a time when he said both Kessler and Lacy weren't worth fighting either and I'm sure you know that as well.

Not at all, Pavlik's team accepted the offer to fight Hopkins(when HBO turned down their attempts to fight Mayorga and other laughable choices) because they wanted to secure a Calzaghe fight. The best way to do it was to beat the man who many picked over Calzaghe(myself not included) in that fight so they went for Hopkins looking to impress and force Calzaghe to pay attention.

Anyone that knows ANYTHING about Calzaghe, literally ANYTHING, would tell you that even if Pavlik knocked Hopkins out in the first minute of the first round with a single punch Calzaghe wouldn't have fought him. Calzaghe made it clear that he's retiring after the Jones fight, a fight which he considered a pointless one because Jones is obviously shot only to change that opinion when they decided to fight him over Pavlik and other possible FAR better opponents like Dawson or even Glen Johnson. Yes, even Glen Johnson would have been a better opponent at that time and I'm sure many who existed back then will agree.

Now this isn't directed to you but a general thought. I find it hilarious how many are ignoring this topic and switching it to a prediction thread. Yes, I would also pick Calzaghe to destroy Pavlik even before Pavlik lost to Hopkins, I picked Hopkins over him too using prediction and thoughts that did apply and happen in the fight. What we're discussing here isn't a prediction thread and whoever wants to advertise their guru-like knowledge with their obvious prediction, it's about Calzaghe turning down this fight. If there's one thing to brag about and discuss in excitement regarding Calzaghe then it's how **** poor his record is and how he will be forgotten so soon like he never existed. He has retired for about 2 years and no one gives a damn, really. A top class fighter who never wanted to take risks and is unheard of, that's what his record will be used to warn future athletes in this sport.

Hopkins beat Pavlik, anyways I think Calazghe always wanted to fight B-Hop then RJJ and then retire.

If they were gonna fight it would have been much earlier. Lucky for Pavlik it did not happen as he got to milk it a bit longer before being exposed by Hopkins.

You really dont think that if Pavlik had beaten Hopkins Calzaghe would have been forced to make the fight Scar?

i think the demand would have been huge. then again you are right calzaghe did have his mind set to retire after the rjj fight no matter what happened.

Hopkins fighting him now is no big deal, only a while ago people wanted it badly till Jones lost to Green. The fight was going to be pointless and remains pointless. The hilarious part is how idiots on the forum here and I'm sure they remember themselves for their pathetic knowledge actually claimed Jones is prime material for what he did to Lacy. Oh and they actually did try to argue with whoever tried to wake them the **** up, remember that Freddy "1823 redecorated Chevrolet BiSHESSS" Wak?. That of course woke up the Calzaghe community on this site, three members(Arran included), to jump and go "TOLD YOU SO MATE", "SAW THAT?!", "Calzaghe PWNED that!", "w0t?!".

Anyway, overweight apes aside, Hopkins fighting Jones is nothing bad in my opinion. BOTH guys are past it and BOTH are old and they both have a history talking trash to one another. At least they're not talking trash only to wobble against tomato cans like James "the buffet king" Toney does. If you don't like it don't watch, simple as that. Both are old enough to be excused to make this.
