Pavlik has a better jab IMO, I cant see him giving up in a sense when the chips are down, like Kessler did. Pavlik may not have the skills Calzaghe has, but he will be the bigger, stronger man in the ring, which will take more than a slap or a flury to keep away, Pavlik will not back up, he will be in Calzaghes face all night, and unlike Kessler, Pavlik will take advantage of a wide open, and easy to counter Calzaghe.

The fight will be tough for both men, just in different ways, it has fight of the year potential, that's for sure.

Calzaghe... If at any point Jack Loew will feel sorry for Pavlik (not like Birmingham for Lacy) he will pull out his fighter... If not, I see Pavlik getting a standing ovation for still standing after 12 brutal rounds of beating...

I see Hopkins giving much more problems for Calzaghe because of his unpredictable, awkward counter-punching style and short inside hooks. Even if Hopkins beats Joe (somehow I doubt but I wouldn't rule it out), Calzaghe pulls a Lacy on Pavlik... I'd put serious money on that, and if Calzaghe loses and he fights Pavlik, I'm gonna be the next one to buy a tropical island (or a planet :D).

I voted Calzaghe with the assumption that the fight is right around now. As time goes on Pavs. chances for victory are growing. It will be interesting to see if Calz. can handle Pavs. work rate and make him miss a lot.

Didnt Calzaghe struggle with Bika from the contender? I think the fight is gonna be great, I thinks a 50/50, Calzaghe will be in there with a guy that has a high workrate with the most power Calzaghe ever felt. There's no quit in Pavlik, so you know it will be tough hard fight for both men, either way, the fans will get there money's worth in this one.

A bad matchup for Pavlik. Calzaghe has too many assets and can vary his style throughout the bout. Furthermore it's a stylistic nightmare for him.

But I think that Pavlik will evolve as we go, as long as he keeps getting better and better fighters to face. I don't underrate Pavlik, but at this point - Calzaghe is at least 2 levels above Pavlik.

Reid would have beaten Pavlik also.

I think Pavlik gets KOed, prime for prime, Reid could actually counter punch well and had decent power. His chin would definitely hold up, not that he was horrible defensively anyway.

Pavlik's power is in accumulation, Reid's chin is easily superior to Jermain Taylor's, as is his power and timing.

I don't understand how Pavlik doesn't get dropped multiple times here at the very least.

Any top level fighter with a good chin, solid skills and good power is going to KTFO that overrated B level fighter Pavlik. If Taylor just had an ounce more punching power, he'd have won by KO in both fights and Taylor can't punch ****.

I voted not sure. I think Joe wins but Pavlik has a better shot than most people are going to give him credit for.

He fights tall, has a good jab, throws straight hard accurate punches finishes very well and sticks to his game plan and doesn't get rattled easy. The way he came back in the first JT fight after being down was impressive, he didn't panic at all.

Pavlik has very good power, Joe does have one hell of a chin though
