    Totally valid opinion I'd say.

I'd go with that, just a bit nagged about some of Joe's stuff.. the stamina, the chin, the heart (refusal to be dominated).

    I dunno :?

Calzaghe fans won't admit it I know, but there's a world of difference between the Toney and Hopkins that Jones faced, and the best version of Calzaghe.

I can't believe some of the **** being posted in this thread, it seems the Calzaghe nuthuggers are trying to make up for years of him being 'under-rated' (because he fought no-one worth fighting) are now trying to make up for it by over-rating the **** out of him.

    Hello hater #1 :hi:

So what you're doing is, you're categorically denying that prime Calzaghe is NOT at LEAST level with Hopkins and Toney... you're denying that outright, no question about it, not a chance in hell, right? That's what you're saying?

Well done then, you completed my task of making you look ridiculous for me :good

What I'm saying is he's never proved it - the Calzaghe fans claims are all speculation that Joe 'may' be a great fighter, based on 2 decent victories. One of those victories is already tainted as Lacy has struggled with crap fighters since then. We'll have to wait and see what Kessler does and then re-evaluate.

The fact that Joe is chasing a 43 year old Hopkins as a career-defining fight doesn't give you any clues then I take it? :patsch

Agreed, Calzaghe at his best was better than a somewhat green Hopkins and a weight drained Toney. Though I'm not saying Joe beats Jones, Jones takes that one.

A prime Calzaghe is a 50/50 fight with a prime Hopkins, maybe a slight edge to B-Hop, and a prime Calzaghe beats a prime Toney based on style matchups.

It ain't speculation, it's faith, his initials ain't JC for nothin you know.

That big cross on his arm, 'the supernatural one' tag that's sticking to esb and will spread, it's all starting to add up. :yep

We'll have to disagree then, this 'green' thing about Hopkins doesn't hold water in my opinion - and I think Toney would find Calzaghe extremely easy to hit but Toney would have to show up in proper shape.

That's just Calzaghes attempt at irony, he's actually English, everyone knows that and he changed his name to Joe Calzaghe (his real name is Bertram Horizontal) when he was an infant.

He deliberately took the initials of the messiah because he'd read the prophecies and knew that if he ever fought the REAL god, Roy Jones Jr, he'd get nailed by a cross that would crucify him - hence the tattoo. He looks at it in the mirror every morning to remind himself how humble he really is, and praises the lord RJJ for making him take the righteous path that was laden with WBO gold, rather than stepping up and facing the inevitable.

It's all there in the book of revelations, you need to read it some day :deal

calzaghe and jones hit each other simultaneously, causing the apocalypse.

the four horseman are, in fact, the right and left hands of roy jones and joe calzaghe.
