    Over anybody at 160??

I think a prime Marvin Hagler would stop that young version Roy at 160 personally

Based on the Hopkins and Castro fights, there are plenty of middleweights throughout history who would give Roy all he could handle at 160.

When he moved to 168 he seemed to take it to a new level though.

oh, because there was never really a point where they should have met earlier.

Joe was on nobody's radar until he beat Eubank for the SMW title in late 1997.

By that point, Roy had moved up, captured the LHW crown, and already had three bouts at 175.

It was still quite a while after that before a Jones-Calzaghe bout was even a whisper. One of them would have had to move up or down. Joe was pursuing a bout with Hopkins that eventually fell through.

Roy had no interest in fighting outside of the US, and if he did, it would probably have been Dariusz Michalczewski. Joe had little interest in moving up to face a fighter of Roy's calibre.

    Both men 'avoided' each other.

But if they had met, I believe Roy would have prevailed.

You sound like a hater and you seriously underrate Calzaghe.

That said, I'm a bit surprised that more than a quarter of posters believe he would have beaten a prime Roy.

    lol 1st round KO?

thats impossible, Cal had a good chin and great recovery from knockdowns. Roy only stops people if they have middling chin, or good chin but cant recover fast enough from knockdowns.

Points victory, possibly Calzaghe getting knocked down, probably getting his face sprouting menstruating Vitali style vaginas late on but not stopped, absolutely not, except maybe by tko with a benevolent ref or if the ref felt pressured to stop it. Might retire Calzaghe too, since his zero was so special to him - or we might see Joe grow into a better boxer in defeat, no longer afraid to preserve that stupid zero loss record that held him back for years.

see what happened in round 1 when roy was shot to absolute **** and he dropped Joe? Well if that was prime RJJ Joe would have never got back in the fight and RJJ would've finished him off then and there by KO 1.

RJJ by KO between rd 1-5

Dropping a fighter is not the same as stopping him.

(And it as it was an illegal forearm shot.)

If anyone can, Calzaghe can... it would be a very competitive fight regardless, despite what most on here want to believe.

Jones would land right hands and get knockdowns til this one got waved off. Calzaghe is wide open to be hit by a guy with Jones's speed, and the power of RJJ was vastly superior to Salem, Mitchell, ancient Hopkins or his shot-to-**** 2008 self.

Seriously, anyone thinking this fight would be competitive is kidding themselves on. Jones was on a completely different ability level to Calzaghe, and would've clowned him, dismantled him, and beat him up.

Can't even be bothered debating this further, as the delusional on here are way beyond help or reason.

  15. A shot, brittle-boned, blown-up Calzaghe did this to Jones on American soil. Imagine what a young, fresh, injury-free Calzaghe does to Jones.:vonnecunt:****off
