Depends on what shape Tarver comes in at. If he is on top form and can maintain a high activity level then he can win. If he comes in out of shape and cannot maintain a good enough activity level then he will loose a decision. I also think Glen Johnson could beat Calzaghe too.
Johnson is about as perfect an opponent as Calzaghe could fight. No surprises, fights in straight predictable lines. Calzaghe would make him look stupid at any stage of their careers. Amazes me how overrated Johnson is based on getting in on the Jones/Tarver game. People will say that Calzaghe ducked him back in 03, inury and a messy divorce were the main factors in that. Calzaghe was actually getting rubbished for taking the fight at the time, Johnson had a losing record at SMW, and was seen as another underpar opponent.
I'd have to agree this outcome is the most likely of all. Tarver does like to get his nose dirty and would need to be chased.
Johnson would've murdered Calzaghe. It's one thing for a guy to come forward with some distance so that Calzaghe can counter or just pick him apart coming in but Johnson is a completely different animal. He stays right in your chest. He doesn't give you room to breath he's like that from start to finish. Calzaghe would've been overwhelmed. His punches on the inside would've made Johnson laugh. Johnson KO.
:rofl:rofl:rofl Glen Johnson hasn't knocked out one good fighter other than Roy Jones who had to lose nearly a third of his bodyweight a year previous and was coming off a KO loss. Wake the **** up man. A guy that goes life and death with Clinton Woods does not beat Calzaghe period, nevermind by KO.
sven ottke just moved his feet and johnson`s pressure meant **** all because he cannot adjust to lateral movement. he needs to be set . give him angles and leg movement and it gives him fits. watch the sven ottke fight for how frustrated johnson was .
Johnson has 12 losses+ 2 draws. He may have been hard done by on occasion, but this beast has not done enough in 14 out of 60 fights to get the decision in his favour. Against some gatekeeper level opposition at that. At the elite level, which Calzaghe is and has been at, Johnson is a plodder, a very hard working and dangerous one, but he gets nowhere near prime Jones/Hopkins/Calzaghe.
Johnson lost to Omar Sheika and was pushed all the way by Clinton Woods - I don't understand why so many think he'd take Calzaghe, when better fighters have tried and failed.
Calzaghe by a wide margin - boxing circles around Tarver all night. A boring but very clear decision for Calzaghe. Tarver cant do **** to Calzaghe.
I know it's hard to believe but Johnson didn't really hit his peak until he fought RJJ. And his 3 fights with Woods were all in England and he got a UD win, a D, and a SD loss. You think the judging might've been a bit biased? The fact is that in the last 4 years or so, Johnson has taken on the best LHW's out there and wanted more. He beat RJJ, Tarver, Woods, Griffin, and i thought he beat Dawson. That's the creme of the crop at LHW. Like i said, he gives Calzgahe a ass whooping.
