And Ward got a gift in their initial first fight.

As for the second fight not only was there dubious but Kovalevs trainer himself was in cahoots with Ward and his creepy trainer.

However, I thought once again Ward was being outboxed and have no problem with him having to turn the fight dirty to get the W, on reflection it's what great fighters do, they adapt.

But again my main point is that however you want to envision Kovalev, at the end of the day his one big win is over Hopkins.

    It's a 50/50 fight.

Kovalev was pedestrian and 1 dimensional against Chilemba and I rate Hopkins a lot better, more crafty and a lot tougher.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Hopkins outhustle Kovalev over 12 rounds, Kovalev certainly isn't stopping him.

How come he couldn't crush him at 49 then?

    krusher would krush him.

good reason why its only joe calzaghe in history who chose 40somethings as his legacy fights.

no kovalev batters hopkins when hopkins is old, as he did in reality.

and dont pretend krusher did not go easy on hopkins, you know that years ago.

I can't possibly see Hopkins beating Kovalev, who was simply too big and strong at 175. Hopkins was capable of slowing a fight way down and grappling through rounds, but not with a guy as strong as Kovalev.

Keep in mind Hopkins spoiled his way to a narrow win over Pascal, but Kovalev absolutely brutalized Pascal. Huge difference in strength and margin of victory.

And I don't see the shell of RJJ who had been knocked dead cold by Glen Johnson going the distance against Ward, Kovalev, or possibly even Barrera.

I think RJJ would be a 50/50 with Barrerra, depending on which Jones turned up, how much he had left and again I'm not rating nor have rated that victory as one of legacy as opposed to a money grab. Although Kovalev would ruin him and Ward I feel would adjust after a few early close rounds and dominate down the stretch, but you have to also remember Calzaghe himself was what 36?

As for Kovalevs strength, I've no doubt he's strong but the Hopkins he faced was far faded from the awkward maestro that JC beat and I think his age magnified the situation.

Again let me state I'm not a Calzaghe "fan" nor am I of Ward both are legit HOF fighters imo and ATG at 168.

My only problem from what I see is a common interplay of what Calzaghe achieved and a common overplay with what Ward did.

Both have solid resumes, JC beat 11 former champs and had the defences, Ward won a quality super 6 and got out before he got old.

Regarding our conversation I'm going to leave it here, tbh I think we are and will be going over old ground just in different ways.

Oh and just for your information there has never been anything "racial" regarding my posts or posting.

    Legally blonde?

Firstly I'd question any kind of "man" who can actively quote or know anything about that film.

Says more about you than me HerolGump.
