I do give props for Joe officially beating Bernard, even though I had it as a draw at that time, because for me it was 'quantity vs quality'

Yes, of course Bernard wasn't shot when he fought Joe.

By all means, give Joe credit. But at the end of the day, he didn't out skill Bernard. He simply out worked him with volume. He won on volume and fitness against a guy who was 43 years old and who had to feign injury in order to gain a much needed break.

That simply cannot trump a stoppage win over a prime, huge punching LHW in Kovalev.

There's no logic to that opinion.

No , that's not the reason. Never going past 7 rounds in his career and worried about being taken the distance was why he didn't go out and crush him. He fought a steady pace to avoid the risk of tiring in rounds he had never seen before , yet he never lost a minute of the fight and a more confidant Kovalev would have blown him away if he started early like he started in the 12th round.

Calzaghe's skill level was shown up by Hopkins , he won purely on youth and fitness. Ward works for 3 mins of every round and would render Calzaghe's slap attack inefficient.

Yes, I see where you're coming from. We know that people have agendas on here etc.

Yes, I did question the Kovalev hype at the time. But he proved to me that he was a handful and a serious threat to Andre, especially as Andre only possessed respectable power at the weight.

Let us hope that those guys end up facing each other.

    I don't understand your question.

Why wouldn't he want to prove it in his biggest fight?

Go and watch the fight back.

He used a good jab and good skills.

He never even looked as though he wanted to take out Bernard. Bernard was in survival mode, and Kovalev was more than content to box with him.

It's crystal clear that he only put his foot on the gas pedal in the final round.

I respect the above. But I'm not interested in reputations etc. I'm not interested in who's got a higher profile and who is considered a modern day legend. That's not how you objectively rate a win.

You objectively rate a win based on the quality of the fighters, their attributes, the stylistic match up and the degree of difficulty/danger etc.

I hope that you have a great time in Budapest, and please hit me up when you get back and tell me what it's like.

    Take care.

    Good post.

I think that comparing their whole resumes is very difficult, with an awful lot of factors to consider.

Anyone who comments on this thread saying anything positive about Calzaghe ,@HerolGee will personally respond to every comment. He's like Eddie ''apples and pears'' Hearn hogging the limelight from his fighters interviews.

    It's called trolling a troll.

You get ****ed off too, but he's more consistent.

Replace Calzaghe with Wlad and you'd of been all over this topic like flies on ****.
