what? i bet your one who likes marciano too. your argument would be he never lost in 49 fights. well calzaghe never lost and always found a way to win. yes there are men out therethat would beat calzaghe at there best bu ward isnt proven enough to show me he would have taken him.
I genuinely don't see how Ward could win this fight. The blueprint has already been laid on how to beat Ward by Boone and Bika who were both successfull versus Ward in the mind of any neutral fight fan. You look at Calzaghe and there is just no blueprint, the likes of eubank, brewer, reid, mitchell, woodhall, lacy, bika, kessler, hopkins, and Jones all came up short. Calzaghe just has that adaptability and ability to produce his best in the face of adversity - the 2 most important traits in the game when seperating the boys from the men. In a Calzaghe v Ward fight, i see the first 6 rounds shared nip and tuck but Ward gassing in the 2nd half of the fight (like he did in the latter rounds v plodder froch) with Calzaghe running out victorious to a 116-112 type scorecard. In a way, i feel sorry for Ward because of the ridiculous hype blinkered fans are throwing his way. Wards already lost 2 fights imo and when the proper time comes to judge Wards career in 5 or 6 years time, i imagine he will have 5 or 6 losses to his name. My only hope is that when that happens, that the delusional fans hyping Ward on here don't toss him aside like they did to the likes of Taylor, Lacy, Pavlik, Dawson, and Tarver etc etc.
A 33 year old calzaghe would not be beat I just can't think of anything ward can do that calzaghe couldn't.
I am being as fair and objective as I can be regarding Calzaghe, but sadly the facts are way too harsh and the majority of his fans(3 human beings and 30 lifeless bored e-trolls) don't like it at all. Trust me, I do know that boxing is a business and have explained it numerous times on these boards in many different discussions. These guys don't fight for bragging rights or forum supremacy and legacy, they need money to support their families and lives and boxing is as temporary as can be. I doubt anyone, including yourself, would work for bragging rights and legacy if it didn't pay your pills. Successful businessmen are guys like Mayweather and others. Fighters that did fight difficult opponents rising but also took certain easy routes yet still maintained fame, wealth and general acceptance/recognition. Did Calzaghe ever generate serious fame?, his entire career he has ONE PPV that sold 120k against Roy Jones, if that's a successful businessman in the sport to you then welcome to boxing. When a fighter comes and leaves yet no one noticed nor gave a damn, you know that career was a failure. The Eubank fight was a JOKE, you can justify that one all year, I lived to see it. Eubank was supposed to be retired, he was coming off a loss to Collins and two pointless exhibition fights overseas. After the Calzaghe fight he went on to lose to Thompson twice till he finally hanged them up. The only victories worth mentioning in Calzaghe's unknown/already forgotten career are Lacy and Kessler. That's pretty much it in 46 professional fights. Andre Ward has done better already and accomplished more in 26.
Foreman had Norton and Frazier on ***** street too, people thought Ali would nor only be demolished but murdered on spot. Welcome to boxing where styles make fights. :good
Calzaghe the prime version would destroy Ward, the faded version that retired would clearly and easily outpoint Ward. Calzaghe would outland Ward, outpunch Ward, has shown to be more durable than Ward, beaten better fighters than Ward, and is just better. Ward doesnt have a great workrate, and is in a very weak era, which he has capitalised on, but we have seen Ward tire, like he did against Bika and Froch and remember Bika was tired against Calzaghe. Most on here never really focused on prime Calzaghe, and only saw the old faded version, so I will work on the presumption that, that would be the version Ward would fight, and that faded Version of Calzaghe beats Ward very clearly
Joe was a serial ducker with a padded record. Hop at 43 would of won a shutout against Joe if it was an amatuer fight. Ward is Hop x100. No contest to Ward.
