And Ward wouldn't leave the states. Great matchup though. Calzaghe on PTA due to workrate and because Ward cant control the distance.

Ward's resume is not better than Calzaghe's. Froch is a better win for Ward than Eubank is for Calzaghe, Kessler and Bika are better wins for Calzaghe than they are for Ward, Abraham's a good win for Ward but at a similar level to Calzaghe's win over Lacy, and Dawson is not as good a win for Ward as Hopkins is for Calzaghe (beause Ward dragged him down to his weight instead of going up to Dawson's).

As for Green, Miranda, Buchanan, Ravelo, Camou, Boone and the rest of the guys on Ward's resume, they are not superior to Ried, Woodhall, Mitchell, Sheika, Veit, Brewer, Salem, Starrie or most of the guys on Calzaghe's resume. Some are of a similar level, some are worse.

Hell, even the shot Roy Jones Jr would have beaten the guys on Ward's resume prior to Kessler - in fact, the only guys on Ward's resume that the shot Roy Jones would struggle with, in my opinion, are Kessler, Dawson and possibly Froch - of course, the same is true of the shot Jones when looking at the majority of Calzaghe's resume but Calzaghe beat the shot Jones so that would be irrelevent, thus when comparing resumes Calzaghe's win over the shot Jones is still better than Ward's wins againt Pudwill, Miranda, Camou, Ravelo, Williams, Etc.

Of course, this endeavor has probably been pointless, since I'm pretty sure you are the kind of guy who wont accept any argument in favor of Calzaghe's resume being good, and would probably accuse me of being a fanboy or something because I've promoted that view-point - that is, you would have if I hadn't pre-empted it.

Those long redundant bull**** posts that you post over and over and over again don't make you right Bailey..

You have already been thoroughly thrashed on that topic...The chasing Jones for years talk out of Joe's mouth were bull****... I have seen in broken down in detail, so have you, why you continue to ignore it I don't know...

So ****ing what if experts picked a shot Roy Jones to win.. Maybe that says they didn't think too highly of Joe. I know 2 of them actually had bad blood with Joe, Hopkins and Johnson..

3 comeback fights??? ****ing please against who???

Prince Ajamu? never heard of him

Anthony Hanshaw?? You probably didn't watch that fight... I did, it was pretty much a life and death fight to the very end, until the Roy knockdown, giving a close but clear decision for Roy.. I think Hanshaw was knocked out early in his next fight.. Hanshaw was and still is a nobody, and almost beat Roy.

Felix Trinidad... Just as shot as Roy, but blown up about 20 lbs past his best weight, managed to win the first 3 rounds against Roy very clearly, until Roy's sheer strength and size started to take over, and if not for the 2 flash knockdowns, would have been damn close until the end.

Now that those fights you didn't watch are broken down for you, can't you at least admit that wasn't too much of a comeback? I think Roy got really lucking getting that title shot from Joe, there were more deserving fighters IMO..

Roy Jones was a safe fight for Joe, a chance to cash out against a big name in the sport... Roy had little to no chance, Joe knew this. Hell, even Roy knew it, why do you think he wanted to sign for 2 fights win or lose?:lol::patsch

I will confess and admit I havent read all of your post, but just quickly, how do you rate Wards win over Froch, better than Calzaghes over Eubank?
Eubank was younger, faster, busier and a better SMW with more experience, had only lost 2 fights to one fighter and many felt that one of those wasnt the case, whilst the other was a SD, had fought at a far greater level and against better SMWs, beaten SMW world champs.
Froch hadnt come close to that

Eubank went from CW to SMW in a week to fight Joe. On top of that he hadn't a good win in years, never won again after the fight and retired. Its not a good win. Wards win over Kessler is better. Kessler beat Froch after his loss to Ward and scored another 3 wins by impressive ko. There is absolutely no way Eubank is a better win for Joe.

Ward ****ing demolishes Calzaghe and quick. Calzaghe ran and publicly stated he was determined to protect his undefeated career. Ward said his undefeated record enables bigger paydays for him, but he also fights whoever, whenever. Big difference between the 2, and Ward is faster, stronger, and has way better defense. Why are we even talking about this? Just look at what Ward did to Kessler to prove my point. **** all you calzaghe fans too.

    What a rubbish post.
Here you compare old past best Calzaghe beating prime undefeated Kessler, to a decade younger Ward beating a faded, rusty, unwell double vision suffering fighter who hadnt beaten a top fighter for 3 years.
Still if you use that poor logic, just look at how Calzaghe looked more convincing against Bika than Ward did, who was being smashed around in the 12th round.
How has Wards record got him the big fights? He chose not to fight Bute, which would have been his biggest fight against a top undefeated SMW world champ, but Ward chose not to.
Tell me which top undefeated fighters Ward has faced, or which undefeated world champs Ward has fought?
Remember Wards biggest win is a Calzaghe victim, so what are these greater fights?

Kessler was actually getting the better of Calzaghe in the first few rounds until Kessler broke his hand which turned the tide in Joes favour. Ward totally dominated and outclassed Kessler in every way from start to finish.

I rate Froch as a better win for Ward than Eubank is for Calzaghe because of where Froch and Eubank were in their respective careers when the fights happened.

Froch was in the middle of having fought the best consecutive opposition in his career. He'd beaten Pascal, Taylor and Dirrell, lost to Kessler then beat Johnson and Abraham before Ward beat him, then he bounced back to beat Bute. He was performing better than he ever had and put in a good display against all of them.

Eubank, on the other hand, was 2/3 years out of his prime, coming into the fight having a retired after his second loss to Collins and having beaten two nobodies after his comeback. Sure, he put in a great performance against Calzaghe and Thompson twice afterward, but he was he not the fighter he had been in 1993 or 1994, 1997 and 1998 were not the best years of his career.

I'd agree that Eubank was a better boxer in his prime than Froch was, and that Benn, Collins and Watson, at the least, are better any of the fighter's Froch has beaten to date, but in terms of where they were in their careers when they fought Calzaghe and Ward then Froch was a lot closer to his prime than Eubank was and so it was a better win for Ward.

Considering also that Calzaghe looked to have won the first round and you say Kessler broke his hand in the 2nd and thats what turned the tide, sounds ridiculous.
Kessler said he had no excuses, but you seem to forget Kessler fighting Ward with double vision. Forget that did we?

What difference does near retirement make? You said you think Calzaghe was prime when he retired. Your post.
Eubank wasnt fighting at SMW after and gave away alot of weight to take on a CW champ losing a close decision first time after flooring him and being stopped on an injury when ahead in the rematch. That CW when past his best and near retirement beat undefeated D Haye, the only CW to ever do so.
Kessler never tested himself against a big massive CW puncher, so your point is once again, not very valid

He was nearing retirment because he didn't have it in him anymore. He had a very tough career and it took its toll. The knockdown was being off balance more than anything. Joe doesn't have the power to floor Eubank. But thats beside the point. Kessler is still on top of the world boxing stage. Its impossible to convince anybody Eubank was the better win.
