An hour ago I was watching my local news station and suddenly they confirmed that Clinton Woods is in advanced talks with Team Calzaghe with a fight likely to happen if Hopkins doesn't agree to fight Joe in the next seven days. Dennis Hobson(Woods Promotor) said he's glad egos have been left behind and the battle of britain can now go ahead. Woods seemed very confident that he can do better than Kessler and be the first man to stop the unbeaten reign of Joe Calzaghe. I'll be putting this interview onto my Youtube channel tomorrow WOODDDDDDDYACOMEBACK or WOODDDDDDDYAREVENGE

Clinton Woods will be a very easy fight for Joe. I hope this fight doesnt happen, because it wont be very challenging or do anything to improve his legacy.

    ****ing awesome!:D

This will set up a unification with Chad Dawson most likely if Dawson can cement himself some more. Woods can give Joe a competitive fight stylistically as well.

Woods is one of the better LHW's currently.

Say it aint so. This is a **** fight, It does **** all for his legacy, and its bollocks that this fight would stir up huge interest in Britain. Many people have never even heard of Calzaghe in his own country, let alone Clinton ****ing Woods. If he cant get BHop, then fight Dawson. He gets the best belt off the best fighter at 175, who is likely to carve himself out a legacy in the USA in the future anyway, so a win only looks better in years to come.

A win over Woods would set up 1 or 2 more good LHW fights.

Anyone who thinks this fight is a walkover for Calzaghe is foolish. Woods is a really good fighter with tremendous heart, he's just as big as a test as Mikkel Kessler, and if anything I think he's got more heart than Kessler, not to mention much faster hands.

I'd still pick joe, but anyone who says this is a **** fight is either overrating Calzaghe or doesn't know Clinton Woods other than from the RJJ fight.

Tell me, what fight is easier to make for early 2008 for a LHW title? And why is Clinton Woods suddenly not a top 3 LHW?:yep

At least its better than the farce of a Hopkins fight. That would only earn Calzaghe money but little else.
I agree that Dawson is the best fight at 175.

Dose anyone actually believe that a Hopkins or a Dawson fight would actually happen at the moment?

There are 3 fights at LHW that are certainly better than this one (Dawson, Hopkins, Erdei), and three more that are probably more competetive for JC (Jones, Tarver, Stipe Drews).

Overall it's not a bad fight for a debut at 175 lbs and it will be for Woods' title. It is better than anything left at 168 lbs but that isn't saying much after Kessler was dealt with. I'm rather dissappointed as well. Let's just hope this leads to bigger things for Calzaghe.

It's funny, people wanted Woods for Dawson as a step into his P4P ranking by unifying at LHW. People generally regard Woods as stronger as a titlist than Erdei is, having fought the superior competition and having been on a winning streak recently.

Then we have oldman Hopkins, who's so far past it that he's not even in the mix H2H.

If they announced Hopkins-Calzaghe in MSG, 1 side would ***** about the age, now they are just hinting as JC-Woods, which is a decent fight following Kessler for a LHW title, and 1 side is complaining.

If they announced Dawson, which is the hardest fight for Joe, 1 side would ***** that Dawson's green.

    We cannot win.:yep

Actually Dawson and his team have been calling Joe out since they fought on his undercard of the Lacy bill.
