Excellent fight i said i wanted him to take on Hopkins first beat that Old *******s ass then come back to Britain and take on Clinton Woods in a monumental retirement bout however if the Old **** chickens out again this is a very healthy alternative
I don't know, this fight don't appeal to me... Calzaghe is on another level than Woods. Is that fight big in the UK? Would it pull many people? That'd be the only reason why it might take place... Man, Calzaghe should fight Hopkins if it's possible, now THAT would be a fight! Just imagine a name like Hopkins on your record instead of Woods, there's some difference there. Not sure he can beat Hopkins though. Well, Calzaghe proved he's willing to take dangerous fights, great performance against Kessler by the way - he should continue that way. Woods should fight somebody like Erdei... BTW he still has unfinished business with Glen Johnson...
Oh, please. Dawson wouldn't be set back by a loss to Calzaghe. For evidence, just look at how well Woods has bounced back from his loss to Jones. And even if he lost, I doubt Chad would get beaten up worse than Clinton did in that fight. The value of a fight isn't defined by the belts that are or aren't at stake. Beating Calzaghe would do wonders for Dawson's career, and losing wouldn't destroy him. Kessler certainly didn't hurt himself in their bout this past weekend. He'll get an immediate, big, HBO fight whenever he's ready. Dawson would be a fool to pass up a fight against Calzaghe. The risk/reward ratio tilts strongly in a positive direction. It is guaranteed huge exposure and a matchup he can win against a confirmed great. If you're a competitor and confident in your abilities and seasoning (and he is), then why pass up the best opportunity? It's not like Hopkins will ever fight him, and it appears that even Tarver may not.
Don't be such a drama queen. Calzaghe is getting all kinds of respect, and far less hatred than PfP No. 1 Floyd Mayweather. No one is universally adored (at least not while they're active).
Blocky I agree with you about some points on Dawson. I agree with you that he needs to make a bigger name for himself before he fights Calzaghe, but no way he will look like Lacy if they ever fought. I also agree with you about him needing more experience. He has beaten top calibur opponents such as Harding and Adamek, none the less he still needs to fight more top rated fighters. I have this feeling they will fight sometime down the road. According to his promoter Gary Shaw, Dawson could possibly be fighting Glenn Johnson in April, but he needs to get rid of his mandatory first Adrian Diaconu. After Calzaghe fights either Woods or Hopkins (probably the two biggest names in LHW currently) than there should be a showdown between the two.
Honestly, people are openly saying that he should fight Hopkins just coz he's got the better name, even though he's shot. Christ I dont care about legacy as much as I do sport, so what if Hopkins does better for his "legacy" **** that Woods - Calzaghe is a much more interesting fight. Hopkins - Calzaghe would've been great 5 years ago, now its just a novelty. And whats worse is you people are buying into it!
I need another source on this but if its true not a bad choice for Joe if he does end up at 175..This will just add greater hype if he does end up fighting Hopkins ...
