Nobody wanted the guy..He wouldve made a prime jones look ordinary, dm wouldve looked ponderous, hops, overrated...on the list goes..Joe top 100 atg:happy
Please stop posting it's embarrasing. You must be a Ranger fan, no self respecting Celtic supporter would post this kind of garbage.
Calz never built up a high enough profile to get a fight with a prime Hopkins or Jones. A lot of pointless defenses. But yeah 2006 to retirement was decent. His career was totally stagnant afer Eubank until Lacy.
He went backwards. A past-peak Eubank was slightly better than all the guys he fought until stepping up and taking on the 43-year old ex-middleweight champ.
He wasted years messing about with the likes of Pudwill building up his precious unbeaten record.By the time he took on the best it was to late.I stil think Hopkins beat him and thought the way he reverted to the boring 1000 slap per round stuff against Kessler was pathetic. If you watch the highlights of that fight they are all of Mikkel trying to make a fight of it.In his finest hour(Lacy)despite his opponent begging to be knocked out old Joe still dragged the fight on a good 5 rounds longer than it needed to go.A prime Hopkins or Jones would have finished what they started in round 1.The best opponent for Joe would have been Ottke, that fight never happend cos as ive said before i think he and Joe are actually brothers. If the fight had come off it would have ended in a draw beacause judges just cannot vote against either of this tedious pair of 12 round bores.
There is no one outside of a prime Nard or Jones I see beating him anyway but as been covered it would have been nice to see him with some better name. Maybe Mundine, Beyer after he beat Woodhall, Lucas, are some other names instead of the Pudwills et al..really they bring nothing Joe hasnt seen before, except Choc with his speed but Joe would have spanked the **** out of him and all others mentioned. An earlier move to lightheavy would have been ideal aswell. He did pretty well with what he had in front of him...For me a guy whos resume doesnt match his ability, he was capable of more if the opportunities were there. Just circumstances prevented them sometimes..when I say circumstances I pretty much mean Warren.
