Well there are comparisons which can be made between Lacy and Pavlik, but that is only one example, Joe is a natural counter puncher and likes aggressive fighters every time he fought a comeforeward style he had excelled. Thats is not to say Calzaghe - Pavlik would be a total shutout like the Lacy fight but it gives you good grounding on making a prediction. This is a good fight for Joe to take. Calzaghe comfortable UD.
You almost make it sound like Pavlik is an excessively experienced fighter who has been fighting at world level for years, with many world class fighters on his resume who have been unable to get comfortable with him. Against Calzaghe, he'll get found out.
it needs someone like JC to stop the hype train of pavlik, would be great too see the forum a few days after that fight, "oh pavlik is a hype job, he was overated" heard it before....(lacy)
Please sir, don't compare Pavlik with Lacy..:barf Other than the fact that they are both American, and have pretty good KO %'s, well there's not much else to say.
Yeah you got me!:!: I'm really Jeff Lacy. :blood But for pster jc and Benjiabc, and which ever else of you dudes that want to try and draw comparisons between Pav and Lacy: Jeff Lacy 5' 10" tall 74" reach was 21-0 at the Joe C fight with 17 KO's Short, stalky, body building type big muscles = extra slow and he was wide. Most notable win coming into the fight: Shot Robin Reid. Pavlik 6'3 and fights every inch of it tall. Look at 6'1 JT when they were in the ring....Pavlik made him look 5'10. 76" reach. 33-0 29 KO (Should be 34-0 30KO after Lockett) Tall, long, stamina extrodinaire (just like Joe), killer leverage on underated speed of power shots. Superb jab and hook as well. Zuniga, Zetuche, Miranda, JT (beat b-hop X 2) X 2. The two cannot be compared.
Don't really know who would win a fight between Pavlik and Calzague, but Joe would better do it right now, the longer it takes the lesser are his chances, he's getting old. Would like to watch it though.
Aditedely Pavliks cv at 160 is better than Lacys at 68, but they were/are both young, popular undefeated American world champions who like to come forward and knock people out - big simlarity. Pavlik does throw straight punches better than Lacy but he doesnt have a very good defence and has been stung at middleweight which suggests his chin isnt granite. Kelly may be quick but he isnt clearly isnt as quick as Calzaghe, in fact the only real advantage Kelly has is punchpower and youth, both of which Joe has defeated before.
Well sir, you are talking reasonably and fair. Not being all holier than thou like most Calzombies tend to do. So we will agree to disagree, hopefully we'll be treated to the fight, and the best man will win. Thanks for discussing like a civilized human being.:yep
Or the other way around perhaps? Of course the forums would be devoid of Calzaghe fans, who would all have done the honorable thing and killed themselves.
I'd say decent sized similarity, as their methods for doing so are night and day different. Left Hook Lacy, Straight as **** right. Like you pointed out Pavlik also has 11 years youth on Joe, on the converse Joe has atleast 11 years experience on Pav. The height difference in Pav and Lacy is quite noticable too. I think it would be a great fight and really hope we both get to see it. The risk/reward favors Pavlik immensly as well. If Pav should lose, well he lost to a 10 year reigning champion from a higher weight class, and still has many years to go on and prove himself. If Joe loses to a "green" not yet to reach his prime Pavlik, well that would look quite bad on him IMO.
You only hate him because he won his title from JT, you have admitted such many times on here....****er.:yep
