No, Dorfmeister; that is very generous of you, as usual, thank you, but I will wear your avatar for a month, if Calzaghe loses more than 3 rounds and doesn't stop Hopkins!:good

But yeah, you're right, no way Calzaghe will throw 80 punches a round. 50 punches will be enough if 20 of them land.

Man, my avatar for you is gonna be the best one I can find of Lucian Bute and that is not open for discussion anymore.

    OK - let's speak about numbers then and considering Calzaghe-Kessler & Hopkins-Wright:

    Rd1 - Calzaghe 15 of 64, Wright threw 44 punches, Hopkins threw 41
    Rd2 - Calzaghe 15 of 55, Wright 13 of 54, Hopkins 8 of 50
    Rd7 - Calzaghe 27 of 105, Wright 16 of 54, Hopkins 18 of 53
    Rd8 - Calzaghe 18 of 59, Wright 15 of 57, Hopkins 15 of 58

It's easy to understand Calzaghe's 1010 thrown and 285 connects against Hopkins' 640 thrown and just 152 connects and Wright's 618 thrown and 167 connected - Calzaghe went hit by hit with Kessler and made the most of effective time throwing and landing whereas Hopkins moved around and clinched robbing effective time to throw and land - it was a Hopkins decision, not something he tried, got tired and couldn't do ( to throw and land more)... Finally, look at the rounds that I'm giving you ( including a great 8th round for Calzaghe) and ckeck he landed 18 like Hopkins did in round 7... Of course, Hopkins has to throw in double digits per round but if Joe is reduced to land 15 ( rd 1 and rd 2 against Kessler), it will not come down to who's running the numbers on whom but who's doing the more damage or who's controlling the pace and the rhythm... And then don't go crying around about judges like Dave Moretti, Chuck Giampa, Glen Trowbridge, Glenn Hamada or Duane Ford - they are in a much better position at ringside to evaluate it than we are.

If Hopkins was that good he wouldn't of lost to Taylor and made ugly fights with guys like Echols and an overweight Winky.

    Easy win for Joe.

I already have the best pics of Bute to be found...:bart

    :D

About this fight, yeah, you make a good point, even though you picked the worst rounds for Calzaghe...but fair enough...styles are against him this time, unlike against Kessler. I think he'll land around 20, or just short against Hopkins and that's going to be punches that you can hear - more than Bhops will land, I'm sure...so, no, I won't cry about the judges...Calzaghe is aware he has to win this clearly and that the judges will be on Bhops' side...they have him a MUCH too wide decision against Winky...the fight WAS close!

    :good

I do agree that the fight was close, actually Max asked Winky: " What do you think about the wideness of the scores", Winky:"The Who?" ( with people laughing at the back about Max selection of terms); Max: "The fact that the scores were not as close as they seemed to be?"; Winky: "That was crazy, I think I won and it was a close fight, I surely didn't lose by scores like that"... Happens that Winky started the interview saying that Bernad had better legs than he thought, that he threw better punches than he thought, that he didn't fight like a 43 year old man, that he was not a 170 pounder but came to fight with a tough 170 pounder ( actually Winky never wanted to fight Bernard since the Mosley post-fight interviews because he said Bernard was great but sneaky and dirty)... Seems to me that everything Winky said is what Calzaghe is saying, even the fact that they were/are afraid of Hopkins moving in with his head, so they'll probably say the same stuff at the end...

Except, whatever you hear in the press: Calzaghe is NOT underestimatig Hopkins. Here's a clue: have you noticed how every time he talks about Hopkins or his own strategy against Hopkins he uses the verbal crutch: "at the end of the day" or "do you know what I mean". If anything, Calzaghe is too worried about Hopkins! Maybe he got under his skin and intimidated him after all - if so, we'll see a Calzaghe at his very best!:good

Talking of being hit is a given. It comes down to distance and pace. The more joe has the better for him. The more he allows Hopkins to force his type of inside fight, the worse. Both guys go 12 stamina wont be an issue for either.

    Should be a great fight.

That's not what your original post was saying though, you said B-Hop is much tougher than Calzaghe and B-Hop has no fear of Calzaghe, not who had the better headbutt.

Philly is much tougher than Glasgow?

How the **** would you know, Baltimore Boy? Glasgow's the murder capital of Europe ya silly **** :deal

Do you even know or care what you're talking about?

Calzaghe's saying if Hopkins starts touching him up at the press conference like he did with Winky, he'll lay the header on him.

He's not talking about what he's gonna do in the ring, he won't need to employ dog tactics to beat Hopkins :hey
