I have no problem with rating Joe above Hop, its down to preference regarding those two for me - X has a better resume but has lost against the 2 best middleweights he faced, bookending his career at 160, while also losing to the best fighter he has faced at 175 - Calzaghe. Zaggy on t'other hand has ALWAYS found a way, which, ultimately is the absolute point of fighting!

However, NEITHER fighter should or can be rated above Roy Jones Junior who is on a different plane to either.

i am close to rating BHOP above RJJ becasue of length of his career and the fact that he is still one of the hardest fighters from MW to LHW.
RJJ was the best of the 3 in his absolute prime

But Jones was sooooo much better in his prime. In world title fights the 3 are:

    Jones Jnr: 22-5-0

    Bernard: 22-4-1

    Calzaghe: 24-0-0

This might not reflect age, but it highlights that Roy's own longevity is perhaps a little ignored. He peaked at a 'normal' age, unlike X, but he still hung at world title level for as many fights as Hopkins. Bernard shouldn't get extra points for peaking late, "it is what it is".

i personally think that BHOP won the 2 fights against Taylor and there are people out there that say that he won the fight agaisnt JC and they have merits as in these fights BHOP landed the cleaner and more effective punches and was out worked through volume punching and is the reason he lost the decisions.
you are talking about a 44 year old man whos record is 49-5-1 who has been fighting since 1988 is still in great form and still the hardest fight out there at LHW has just come off a fight in which he destroyed the great white american hope and the fight before he lost to the best SMW fighter in the world .

Yes RJJ was better in his prime but i look at alot of things when going on ATG and i did not say he was in front it said i am close to moving him in front if he gets another big win over a top 10 P4P

I know you don't believe JC was prime. But he was in his OVERALL prime when he beat both Nard and Roy. Overall Joe is at his very best aside from slightly slowing in the speed and reflexes categories...his skills, craft and prowess both Defensively and offesnively have never been better. And it was proven by how well he did when he stepped up against his toughest challenges.

Asides from two of his main attributes then...

Agreed...those are two of his main attributes on level with his skills, craft and instinct...Which Joe has built throughout the years. And the man is still very fast and still shows great reflexes....he just has gotten bigger moving up in weight and aged ever so slowly. So its natrual he looses natrual gifts before loosing his skills, craft and instinct which should remain intact for the remainder of his career.

I agree an elitist attitude is far from respectable. I try to ignore it in most threads but sometimes I can't stand it any longer and have to address his and others lack of respect for not only this online community but professional boxers as well.

I dont see any reason why its so completely unbelievable or even remotely ridiculous to suggest that Calzaghe and Hopkins are on a near enough level, to simply laugh this off like a hysterical, childish fanboy is pathetic in itself!
