Ok, I know Jones put in a solid showing against Trinidad, but Felix shouldn't even be boxing at 170lbs. Roy was just too big & his speed of hand & foot were too much for Trinidad to contend with. Jones knew Trinidad was not strong or big enough to hurt him. Calzaghe will be a completely different proposition entirely, a much tougher assignment to say the least! Jones will not be able to handle the sustained pressure of Calzaghe. Jones has very good handspeed, but we cannot discount the handpseed of Calzaghe. Joe will hit Jones often. If Jones thinks Calzaghe will get tired, then he's most definately incorrect to assume this. Fighting at 175lbs will actually benefit Calzaghe. He won't have to starve himself as he would to make 168lbs. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves here. Jones boxed a good fight to beat Trinidad, but he'll need to a great deal more if he fights Calzaghe, & at this stage of his career, I don't think Jones will be able to beat Calzaghe. If Jones does indeed travel to UK for the bout, then big respect to him indeed!
Yeah, but tito hits harder then calzaghe. And is far more dangerous of a puncher. Calzaghe misses a hell of a lot of punches thats why he needs to throw 60-70 a round. That wont change. Calzaghe uses his legs more but if you watch the Kessler fight he was off balance a whole lot and falling in flat on his face. Calzaghe would only win by his output of ineffective punches as always. His power or punch is a non issue..
Call me crazy but I think Jones has a better chance than BHOP only because of Jones handspeed he could catch Calzaghe with a good punch but that's it I give Joe 70% chance of winning
Exactly! While I think Calzaghe is a worthy favourite at this stage of their respective careers, I reckon B-Hop is a live underdog. Hopkins will be coming to win, there is no doubt about that! Calzaghe will need to be at his best to beat Hopkins. Bernard is a seasoned pro, knows the ropes only too well. I'm sure we'll see Hopkins try to rough up Calzaghe. If Bernard beats Joe, to general opinion may be that it's a great upset, but in my eyes, it wouldn't be a big upset. Hopkins lives the spartan lifestyle, always in condition (see him at the weigh-in for Hatton-Mayweather) compared to that of Calzaghe at the time. Hopkins is the bigger man, depsite fighting at 160lbs for the majority of his career. I think Joe will win, but it won't be by much, and as I say, I'm not completely ruling out a win for Bernard.
Calzaghe at LHW would hit harder than Tito. Roy ain't knocking out Calzaghe cus he hasn't any power, and Joe has a proven chin. Roy ain't winning on points because he wouldn't be able to keep up with Joe's pace at his age.
First off , Roy of this age is absolutly no match for Cal, and secondly Cal wont beat Bhop so it wont matter
Calzaghe will murder Jones. I like Jones, but hes in denial. Jones is just a former shell of himself.
No he wont. He cant even throw a proper punch. If tito does anything right he turns his shots perfectly with power every time. He landed some vicious body shots on Roy that helped TAKE his legs away. No way in ****ing hell can calzaghe punch harder then tito. That **** is laughable. You can hear a tito shot go off like a gun shot whether it lands on an arm or wherever. Calzaghe slaps. No comparison.
If it took anyone Trinidad-Jones to come to the conclusion that Calzaghe would beat RJJ, then please, go watch a different sport.
Yeah, but tito hits harder then calzaghe shut up does he, cazaghe hits a lot harder than titto.... roy jones vs calzaghe would be a good fight, calzaghe definitely wouldnt kill jones it would be a close fight, if sakio bika can drag joe into a dangerous fight then so can roy jones and so can hopkins.........
