My thoughts exactly... Hell I say Bernard and Jones should fight each other before the Calzaghe bout.
Nah clown. If you used common sense you would know I am right. Calzaghe CANT punch. He cant even throw a punch properly. Tito is only know as a PUNCHER. HE IS A ****ING PUNCHER. No matter what he does or how high he moves up his technique does not change. Calzaghe has NO power. He is an accumaliton puncher at 168. Tito knocked everybody out at 147 and 154 and he was still a puncher at 160. If you had eyes and brain and could see him punch you would see he throws every shot with power. That is his style. Calzaghe is an arm punch slapper. Period. Calzaghe is stronger by a mile, more physical....he wears guys down..Tito is the HARDER PUNCHER PERIOD. Case and point. Go back to the ****ing basics you deluded nuthugger. You ***gots are a joke.
Er Tito is punching guys with greater body mass and muscle. He's carrying more weight which effects his speed and snap. He didn't hurt Roy once in thsat fight. Calzaghe throws a lot of punches but its about setting up the bigger shots and keeping his opponent on the defensive. When he throws power punches ask anyone he has fought they ****ing hurt. Tito's power aint there at 170+
What I saw last night was Jones waiting for Tito a lot. There were moments they were staring at each other because they each wanted to counter punch. I think JC would be better suited for jones to do better than last night. Also, did anyone feel Jones liked Tito a little too much? He had him in trouble and just did not seem to go in for the kill. He was exactly how the announcers perceived it as though he was "satisifeid" with what he had done. However, against JC RJJ would HAVE to HAVE the killer instinct. Especially if he goes to Wales to fight him, no way he will get a decision that's close. He would not be able to "let up" on JC. I hope RJJ just goes for the big fight and not entertain fighting a Chad Dawson.
Safe prediction in both Calzaghe fights. UD win over Hopkins. TKO of Jones no later than the 10th. The end.
You may well get your wish lads, by the end of 2008 Joe may very possibly have a 'W' on his record over both Jones and Hopkins................
I agree, a win over Pavlik or Dawson would be far more meaningful in legacy terms. RJJ is still the biggest name but is a shell of his former self in boxing terms. As for punch power, Calzaghe's is underrated. Chris Eubank said Calzaghe hit him harder than anybody he'd ever faced. Can you honestly see Trinidad dropping Eubank in the way Joe did? Calzaghe's power has diminshed through injury, but if he loads up a big left then it'll be more destructive than Tito's punches. If the Jones fight comes off, I'm sure we'll see it for ourselves.
I guess that most of you are not realising that it has not so much to do with who hits harder - like they are standing still and loading up on each other - it is basically a situation where overall physical activity and workrate decides what one has to do to change the tide of the fight and to overcome his opponent at a certain point... It is common sense that makes you foresee Roy Jones not standing up to the activity levels of Joe Calzaghe, regardless of Tito Trinidad's power. I personally believe that Tito commits himself to the punch and can land that big blow from 154 to 168 pounds whereas Joe doesn't leave himself open as much, keeps a much higher pace and times his whirlwind attacks much better, with many more punches... Roy would be the one sucking up air and deciding to go and lose a lopsided decision or go for broke and possibly collapse on to himself ( accumulation or fatigue) like Trinidad had to in this fight. Hopkins is not in a much better situation but he can still distract and disturb JC... It would be far more competitive a rematch between RJJ and B-Hop.
Calzaghe would beat Roy Jones now and probably comfortable. Jones can not keep up with the pace Calzaghe would set. Jones is so far removed from his prime years now. He occasionally gives you flashes of what once made him so dominant. But its here and there during the bout. Jones needs to be very selective in who he fights. Winky, Lacy, Hopkins, or even a fourth fight with Tarver. Fighters who wont exactly set the place on fire with their offensive outputs.
Calzaghe has the capability to punch - he does have decent power. I think Joe would put too much pressure on Jones and eventually wear him down. He would probably have some difficulty with Jones' unique style and defensive attributres but he will also land consitently and with enough venom to win a comfotable UD. Jones still has enough to be a handfull for Calzaghe - make no mistake about it. But in my mind only one man is winning this fight. Calzaghe UD.
IMO Jones beats JC jc is busy for sure but i dont think he has the power to stop jones. I dont think he will be a harder puncher than tito Jones will stop JC. JC is south paw boxer which most fighters find very confusing.I do not see this beeing a big problem to jones for one he can fight southpaw and in all fairnes jc has not fought a fighter with the skill rjj has. I see jc having a nightmare IMO
