    Of this I am convinced.

Whether it is before or after RJJ, before 'retirement' or after.

Joe wants to get the big cash in the bag with Roy first and foremost, ain't gonna blame him for that, providing he does end up fighting Kelly.

Anybody thinking Joe will walk away from the sport with the label of 'ducker' hanging over him in some quaters is in my opinion mistaken.

Roy in November, and providing Joe wins that, Kelly in April.

All this talk of 'ducking' is absurdly premature, **** give the guy a chance, he hasn't even announced his retirement yet! :patsch

Can't agree. He's past it and knows it. He's pushing 37. Pavlik's a kid by comparison. I just don't see this fight happening.

About a year ago I seem to remember a lot of people around here were accusing Joe of ducking Kessler. I don't expect anyone to own up to this but helloooo :hi:

Joe's pride makes this fight not not happen.

He needs to fight Pavlik soon because he's declining with every passing day and Pavlik is only improving. The longer he leaves it the harder the fight becomes.

This would undoubtedly be a great fight. But what I wonder is; why would Pavlik's team even want this fight? It seems to me that the risk/reward is way out of whack as far as Pavlik is concerned. In other words, the negative consequences of losing to Calzaghe are far greater than reward of beating him.

As much as Calzaghe loves the idea of retiring unbeaten, and he does LOVE that idea (he goes on about it all the time), the criticism of being a 'ducker' will sting him too much.

I really can't see what all the hullabaloo is about :huh

My opinion, I could possibly be wrong I guess.

I disagree, I think Joe would potentially be the greatest scalp of Pavlik's career, even next April (yes I know Pavlik has years ahead of him).

AND the fight would mean more money before Joe vacates a 168. Much less interest in the fight for 'common' boxing sheep.

Joe should fight Pavlik first in the States and then have Jones as his farewell fight in Cardiff. He should fight Pavlik now at 168 whilst he can because he might find it too difficult to make 168 by next year.

Sure it would, but the question is not about if he wins, but if he loses. Does he get credit for having lost to a "legend", or is his record and career forever tarnished? There are those, especially in this forum, who will call Pavlik overrated if he loses to Calzaghe. He doesn't need to fight Calzaghe, and Calzaghe doesn't need to fight Pavlik. It would be awesome, but I don't think the fight really settles anything, regardless of the outcome.

Depends how well he beats Jones if he does. An unconvincing win would probably see him retire but if he does win and win well like he should then he'll believe he's still got it and I reckon the fight will happen. Frank Warren no doubt will try and get his final paycheck out of him anyway.
