Well, let's see if Arum makes it for the January PPV. HBO is interested in the fight, Sauerland is definitely interested. And I don't want to hear about mandatories for Kelly...

I didn't say THE man in that respect of the word. I meant Hopkins was a better man for stepping up to fight Pavlik when JC wouldn't.

    It'll happen.
Pavlik will call him out IF he beats Hopkins.
JC will announce his retirement after Jones IF he wins, then it'll brew for a bit then it'll happen, mark my words.
They've sensed it could be a massive event.

Pavlik has no speed, no defense. Only power.

Calzaghe can take a punch, and has as much stamina as anyone even at 37.

I don't understand why Pavlik isn't getting any critism for fighting an ancient Hopkins while most people are shitting on Joe for fighting Jones, who is only about 2 years older than he is.

Because Pavlik is American and therefore awesome. And Joe is Welsh and therefore a Euro Bum.

Thx... well, that's still not Pavlik saying it but the writer puts in his mouth ("Pavlik ultimately wants to unify the belts, which means he’ll eventually target IBF champion Arthur Abraham and WBA champion Felix Sturm.") But that's not the case. Every single boxer say they want all the belts, but saying something and starting negotiations are two different things.

Fortunately HBO stands behind this fight and hopefully the Abraham-Marquez fight will have some US subscribers - not letting they say King Arthur is unknown in the US anymore...

The best case scenario that could have happened was for Kelly to have fought Rubio for a mandatory and the undercard/ co-feature would have been AA vs Marquez. HBO didn't want Rubio, no money and AA had a mandatory obligation with German TV.

However, if this fight would have been held in Cleveland, that gate would have been crazy. Kelly could have sold out the Quicken Loans Arena.

Yeah it's a nice idea, fight Pav and retire happy, all happy, everyone happy... except there will then be his detractors shouting DAWSON, JOHNSON, TARVER!!

There is nothing a fighter can do to please the haters.

Wrong! The Pavlik/Abraham fight is already on the HBO schedule for January. There is no contractual agreement, but Top Rank, Sauerland, HBO, Abraham, and all other parties have agreed in principle. This information has been posted at least 2 dozen times. Not being aware of it is willful ignorance, plain and simple.

I can not wait for this one! Abraham is ****ing target practice for Pavlik. He has a puncher's chance at best.

The difference is Cal isn't running off at the mouth about DAWSON, JOHNSON, or TARVER.

Put up or Shut up, Joe!

I think the "Rock" said it best, "You gotta big-mouth".

His jab is damn near as fast as Jermain Taylors if not as fast considering his arm length....But everyone knows Taylor is slow....
