Maybe in terms of having a big name, to the casual fan, yes he is. Hardcore fans would like to see Calzaghe-Dawson every bit as much as Calzaghe-Hopkins. Or Anybody-Dawson every bit as much as Anybody-Hopkins for that matter.
Lacy had a nifty left hook before Joe beat him. Dawson has already displayed far, far more than that, even without any 'top class scalps'. Comparison is silly.
I love how adding intellegent, thought out reasons for picking against Joe Calzaghe (one of my all time favorite fighters BTW) means Im biased. And this reply answers this one as well.... My posts arent based on my love for a specific fighter. Ask around, you will be hard pressed to find any regular posters who will agree that I post from my heart and not my head. Im generally regarded as one of the more unbiased posters on this site. Just because my opinion differs from the rest of you, doesnt mean I am picking blindly.
I would aruge - Whilst he really learned to fight and became the fighter he was in New Zealand and Australia, that Bob Fitzsimmons is the greatest English born fighter of all time. World Middle, Light Heavy and Heavyweight champion long before the dilution of sanctioning bodies. I would even put Jimmy Wilde ahead of Calzaghe, he won with KO's than Calzaghe has won rounds...
Great. Expect to see a hundred thousand threads started about how underrated Clinton Woods REALLY is. What a ****ing joke.
atsch Bernard Hopkins is a FIGHTER. He has stepped into the ring over 50 times to defend his life against others who want to enflict as much damage as possible on him. He has survived the streets of North Philadelphia, survived the penitentiary, and he has gone on the win all 4 belts at 160 and become the RING Champion at 175. Bernard Hopkins and *****/***** don't go in the same sentence unless the words "is not a" are before them. Legendary *****? Give me a ****ing break Try legendary fighter and leave it at that
