Agreed. All the stuff coming out sounds like posturing. Hopkins and Calzaghe are both noted for being tough negotiators. What's unfolding now is the courtship.

Expect a lot more trash talking from both camps.

Look at all the chatter this fight is already producing? This one has mega-bout potential. They're milking this pre-signing hype for every drop it's worth, and who could blame them?

Huge dollars at stakes here. I know a lot of people are not seeing this as a DLH-caliber bout, but there's enough on the line that it might be closer to that ideal than many realize.

In the end, I still suspect we'll see Calzaghe-Hopkins.

Trinidad was the best middleweight other than Hopkins at the time, so you'd have to admit Hopkins fought the best there. De La Hoya is another story all together. He should have lost to Sturm...

Calzaghe wins those 4 fights are retires 48-0 and he becomes a top 25 fighter.

I've got no problems with the win over Trinidad, that was a great win and mainly due to the domination, what I meant was that if Calzaghe beat those 4 guys, including Hopkins himself(albeit an old Hopkins), they'd still rate Hopkins higher than him.

It's just my opinion that Kessler and Dawson both are more dangerous for a guy the size of Hopkins or Calzaghe, than Trinidad, but the foolish fans would state that Trinidad was a better win than Dawson, then mention Tarver, just to discredit Calzaghe.

The only thing Hopkins would have over Joe is the fact that he was very competitive with a prime Jones, despite this being a loss, I rank this as a good merit and it shows his class, considering Jones dominated everyone else for a very long time and wasn't dropping too many rounds in the process. Know what I mean?

Good solid test @ 175 for Joe C. Not the mention they've had a little war of words a short time ago which may add some heat. Good fight I am looking forward to.

Yeah you tell 'em. I hate the pro-Calzaghe and anti-Hopkins bias on here. If Calzahje fights Woods next Hopkins should fight the winner of Jones and Trinidad.

    :good

Thanks for the kind words man!!!!

About what I would like Hop to do if the fight with Joe doesnt happen...

Im in the same court as Bernard himself on this one. He said its Calzaghe and/or maybe a shot at the HW title vs one of the smaller champs (Sultan, Maskaev if he wins, etc.). He said if he holds on longer than that, he will lose his last fight to his wife in court....

He also said he has ZERO desire in making a fight with Roy or Tito happen. And stressed that the fight would have no purpose at this point.

But I fully expect this fight to happen. I have been saying it since he beat Tarver...that the most important fight he could make was Joe. Legacy wise and money wise, this fight needs to happen.

lennox achieved much more, and that's coming from a full paid up calzaghe fundamentalist.

obviously there is still time for joe to close the gap.

    have to disagree with u there bro, although i was and still am a fan of lennox, more as a commentator than a fighter really lol, if you look at the footage you will see that;

    1) Lewis could easily have lost both the Klitschko and Briggs fight, especially the VK fight where he was extremely lucky...he was hurt by Briggs more than once

    2) He got ktfo by mccall (who had been dominating the fight) and Rahman...and his revenge defeat of Mccall is nulified on the basis of OM's obvious instability

    3) His 'career-defining' fights were against a TOTALLY shot tyson, the same tyson that lost to bum-of-all-bums Danny Williams, and a 37-year-old Evander who 5 years previous had lost to Moorer and Bowe

    4) Lewis never fought either Moorer or Bowe himself

Best British fighter ever?? I think not.

Calzaghe is right up there imo :deal

briggs rocked lewis in the first, lewis ****ed him up for the rest of the fight, i loved when briggs tagged lewis, lewis just smiled at him and beat his arse down with a combo. he could have lost the VK fight but he didn't, he got the job done and added another W.

joe could have lost against reid but he didn't, he won.

he avenged both defeats and beat every man he ever set foot in the ring with, end of story.

yes, but an evander that was a 20-1 underdog against tyson after those fights and beat his ass, holy wasn't in his prime but it is foolish to say he was shot when lewis beat him, he still had enough fight in him to hang with the best.

lewis beat a stack of quality fighters through his career, ruddock, bruno, mccall, tua, VK, golota, grant, mercer, briggs, morrison, tucker etc.

moorer? a non entity by the time lewis was a champ, and it's hardly the fault of lennox that bowe was too chicken**** to fight him and would rather dump his belt in the bin.

never claimed he was the best, but the immense depth of his resume puts him ahead of JC on the all time british list. LL is top 5 with ease.

Calzaghe could have lost against Reid and that black American who knocked him down
