I disagree Calzaghe left the sport for good reason, i commend him for what he did in the sport but Dawson would most likely stop Calzaghe if he was to return to face him now.
No, I didn't detail any of his fights from Eubank to the end of his career (you have trouble with reading and/or comprehension?). So, there was a whole half of his career that wasn't explicitly covered by that post. I didn't mention Joe getting dropped by two 40 year olds either as that also wasn't necessary (or related) to make my point. But, what exactly is your point? Are you suggesting a flash knockdown (fifteen seconds into the 1st) when Chris was moving backwards (and wasn't at all hurt) is some demonstration of Joe's significant power? Are you trying to incorrectly state that CE has never been down until that flash knockdown? Try watching the fight so you'll be qualified to open your pie hole, moron. If you think that was some major power shot you're an idiot. Really? Boxrec must have a rather informative site if I've just read those descriptions and reposted them. I've had the real-time subscription and have had it from before Joe even started his career. If you had a time machine you could get it too and educate yourself - that way you could look past the 46-"0" and know what the **** you're posting about.
A couple years ago I thought Dawson had the tools to defeat Calzaghe, but his stamina problems forced me to reconsider. That said, I think he'd have a 35% chance of beating the Jones version of JC if the fight were held in the United States. Perhaps those odds would rise during Calzaghe's sabbatical, but I think Joe is done and we'll never know. Dawson has everything you'd need to beat a prime Calzaghe, minus the stamina. Prime Jones would have beaten Calzaghe 8-4, at the minimum, at 168.
Dawson would definitely beat Calslaps now. It would have been close 2 years ago when Dawson was still green and Calslaps was still prime. But now, Dawson is much better, smarter, and most certainly stronger. I dont think people realize how big a fighter Dawson is. He's not a middleweight who moved up weights over time like Hop and Jones. He is a true lightheavyweight.
Calzaghe looks like James Toney these days. Dawson would win against an retired, past prime fighter with massive ring rust,
What the hell is a real-time subscription? And how isn't the Eubank fight relavent? So you decided to stop detailing his fights up to his most significant win upto date at that point? Plus, I know what type of knockdown it was, but a knockdown is a knockdown, and he did it to join that scarce group of people that managed to drop Eubank (Collins and Watson).
Eubank said that the shot Calzaghe hit with was the best shot he has ever been hit with before. I could tell he was hurt, his back was shaking were he couldn't hold his composure from the punch. He had a smile, but that is often a sign of vunerability. Not forgeting Eubank was a master at hiding his emotions.
I am not so sure about it. Can a Calzaghe who will be coming out of one year retirement outwork the offensive-minded and equally fast Dawson?
