No. I'm american, and I know it too. You're just one of the other americans on here who isn't pissed that a clean cut white guy from a small british country is better than there american heroes.

Highly doubtful. Pavlik at this stage would beat up Joe pretty badly I would imagine.

It's a 50/50 fight for me, if I had to chose I would go with Pavlik. Kessler eased off of Joe and couldn't keep up, Kelly can keep up. And he lands something big he does not back away. Lacy is a bomber, just dropped in with off-balance hooks. Still Joe showed both times that he can beat guys with better physical tools and he has a huge experience edge. All in all, they should be fighting each other for the sake of boxing.

There are a few notable exceptions, but the vast majority of Calzaghe fans have no clue how to analyze a fighters skills or breakdown a fight. Most of them are 20 something kids who started followng boxing less than 10 years ago. Less than 5 years ago in many cases.

I wouldn't say exactly that Pavlik has no chance. Punchers like him or AA (the more dangerous man, because of his one punch KO power) always have a chance regardless how skilled their opponents are. Nevertheless, if a fight between these two would go over 12 rounds the winner would be Calz without any doubt.

I like Pavlik in that one. White Australian, no bias toward or against either man.

I like Kelly's youth, pressure and ring intelligence and Joe's lack of pop to keep him to steer him to victory. Close or a KO, not really sure, but I think Pav has the tools to beat Joe.

Denmark chum? Andrade, Beyer, Mundine? Why do you think he couldn't alter? Because Calzaghe is a master of altering his gameplan. Pavlik is a one dimensional slugger.

Who has Pavlik beaten? Taylor? :rofl and a long list of Youngstown chumps.

Pavlik will be outboxed more than Lacy.

I would favor Calzhaghe in this fight also by a minimal margin. Calzhaghe high workrate would'nt allow Pavlik to set up a over right punches that Pavlik is known for. And Calzhaghe will come with a comprehensive gameplan to keep the fight in the middle of the ring similar to what Taylor did in the rematch which turned out to be a relatively close fight, but Calzhaghe would'nt lose the championship rounds like Taylor did in the rematch.

So what will everyone who predicts a Pavlik KO say if they fight and Pavlik hits Joe with some clean shots and can't hurt him? I don't wanna hear that he was the smaller man bull****.

This fight has to be made if they both win. It would determine the best fighter in the World from 160 - 175 pounds. If Pavlik won he would have claim to 3 Ring Magazine Championship Belts. This would be a true Mega Fight.

    That's what frustrates me.

Joe would beat Pavlik, he doesn't have genuine one punch KO power, and I can't see Joe being hit by combinations and stopped on accumilation by a guy like Pavlik, who's pretty predictable. His chin is also good.

And he can adapt to any style brilliant, and Pavlik just works everything off the jab and his straight right is his danger shot.

So I don't see why Joe doesn't want to fight him.

Since Joe is closer to the situation, he will have to go with his view that he loses to Pavlik?

Agreed, they let their dislike/like of a certain fighter cloud the reality of their normally sound judgement. We are all probably guilty of this in some sort of way, it just means we are passionate about the sport & the fighters but certain fighters take more verbal abuse here on esb than others - Calzaghe, Pacquiao & Mayweather come to mind.

I too think JC has the chin & boxing skills to take a decision over Pavlik, somewhere in the region of 7-5 or more likely 8-4 with the middle rds being Calzaghe`s territory using his better technical skills & speed.

Hope we see it but DO NOT overlook Jones who even tho is nothing to what he was is still dangerous as I rate him as 1 of the greatest p4p boxers of all time at his peak.
