il be surprised to see pavlik beat hopkins to be honest....but i think joe would have keely number..he has managed to adapt to ever ystyle he has fought thus far..even to a certain extent hopkins..(in a fight i actually thought he narrowly lost...)...what does pavlik bring to the ring that would be so hard for joe to figure out..??...
The older Calzaghe gets the better Pavlik's chances are while some of Calzaghe's biggest strengths (work rate, punch output, speed) deteriorate more and more with age. There isn't a version of Kelly Pavlik that would stand any chance against a prime Joe Calzaghe though.
Sorry, concensus here is Kelly doesn't even KNOW what Plan B means, let alone adapt. Kelly has been boxing since 9. It is literally in his up bringing. Boo makes a valid point that Kelly's weakness is he knocks so many guys out early that he is still pretty low on the learning curve. That is why I think the second Talyor fight was so impressive.
As if that wass some sort of surprise ? There was VASTLY more demand for a Hopkins fight and a lot more cash on the table. Again, more interest expressed by the boxing public (including Lampley, Stewart and Kellerman) in a Jones fight. The Kessler and the Lacy who faced Joe would both have stopped Pavlik, and early. Besides, Pavlik will still be there, IF he makes it past Bernard. Personally, I would prefer to see Joe fight (Tarver/Dawson next, a more dangerous and exciting fight than a one-sided dismantling of a B+ fighter like Pavlik. Undoubtedly, the longer the delay, the more chance Kelly has. I mentioned last May that Joe would be favoured for about a year at most.
I've said before, power is its own skill. Every one of Kelly's opponents knew what to expect. Every one of them went home with a loss. Just because you know the freight train is coming down the tracks at 4:03 pm doesn't mean you can do much to stop it.
Of course not. The majority of Americans are idiots, just as the majority of people are...not breaking news.
Pavlik has a much better chance at beating Calzaghe than Kessler because of his better conditionning to go all out for 12 rounds + the fact that he throws on average at least 40-50 more punches per round, accurate punches for the most part also ! I think Kessler got tired after the 6th and he did not carry out his game plan properly of boxing from the outside with a constant jab in Calzaghe's face...Kessler does have one of the best P4P jabs in boxing but he didn't utilize it like he should have...I'm sure Pavlik which has a good one himself, will not make the same mistake and therefore take care of ''***** Slap'' Calzaghe !!
