calzaghe did have power in his prime.. it's just that his hands were so brittle. so, late on in his career, he couldn't use it. he instead started using his boxing ability.. which was pretty much off the chart.

do i think that calz would of stopped hopkins if it wasn't for america's best friend.... no. he would have had bernard hanging on for dear life, though. he was pretty gassed out. he cheated to get a breather.. it worked. still lost the fight.

the americans won't have any of it.. they're precious. if they don't win the fight on the cards, it's a robbery.

if they acknowledge that their guy lost, it's because he's shot or wasn't that good to begin with... even if they hyped him to the skys.

    can't take losing you see...

calzaghe beat hopkins, it's as simple as that. there is no way i can score that fight for bernard... even if i'm generous to him.

the americans have just got to accept that.

Please, the fight was close and controversial and not easy to score. It could have gone either way, and Calzaghe got the decision, even with Cortez on Hops' side Borenard faking low blows.
    Please accept the result.

Well for one thing Calzaghe is a far superior fighter to Pavlik and Pascal. Cal was a freak when it comes to punch output, Hops had a hard time keeping up, but made it a very close fight with a knockdown. When I watched the fight, I initially scored it for Hops. Second time I watched it though I DID give it to Cal. But **** no he couldn't stop him, it ain't the ref, it's Hopkins. Many refs have seen Hops do what he does, and he keeps getting away with it. Why? Because Hops is a wizard and knows how to get away with that kinda ****. Different ref, same result IMO.

For me Hopkins won a close fight!

Would he have got stopped? Don't be stupid!

Was he tired and stole a breather? Ofcourse he did!

I'm a Hopkins fan, but Calzaghe beat him without question. That said, Calzaghe would never have stopped Hopkins. Yes, Hopkins was gassed and faked a low blow to catch his breath (and the idiot ref bought into it), but I still can't see Calzaghe doing anything to take Hopkins out. Calzaghe's hands were too shot to take anyone out at that point of his career.

The Ref should have given Hopkins a count for faking a foul like the ref did to Haye in the Vlad fight

There was no robbery. A close fight that could have went either way, but there is no way Calzaghe was on the verge of stopping Hopkins.

First of all Hopkins didn't score a legit KD against Calzaghe. He landed a punch which stunned him a little and then shoulder barged him to the floor in a round which was otherwise very close. Secondly, you can't just take a breather in boxing whenever you like. It would be nice if you could but you get 1 minute at the end of every round and no more. Lastly if you look at the Hatton-Mayweather fight, Hatton nearly floored Mayweather in the opening round and the fight was close. Hatton was doing a great job of getting inside but Cortez simply wasn't allowing inside fighting, so after that he could no longer compete because Mayweather is so much better on the outside. In this fight however he was happy to let Hopkins grab and twist Calzaghe and then punch him off balance, head butt, clich etc.

P.S. If you think all of that Calzaghe only ever scored unfair stoppages look at the Lacy fight. That fight should have been stopped but it wasn't and there for Lacy was never the same beast he had been.
