Calzaghe would definitely have stopped Hopkins with a competent referee

No he didnt. Hatton threw a punch, Mayweather leaned back, it missed, Mayweathers legs got tangled up with Hattons and he tripped.
Cortez allowed Hatton to grab Mayweather in rounds 7 and 8 and he got pummeled.

Yeah, Slappy Joe gave him a some nice back massages.

When Slappy Joe's coke career is over, he should look into being a massage therapist. He'd make a fortune with his slappy joe special.

Had Joe winning the close fight, very closely. But I don't know boxing.

You can say it was a close fight, but you sure can't call it a robbery. Calzaghe was the winner in my book, a close but clear win against a too reluctant Hopkins (who has done great afterwards).

 Stop. By no conceivable definition was the Mayweather-Hatton fight "close". It was a domination from start to finish.

    Lovely back-massaging technique.

All I read in your post is Excuses, Excuses and More Excuses!

Hatton didnt nearly floor Mayweather he was off balance and stumbled but look the fact is Mayweather dominated Hatton COMPLETELY and then sealed the deal with an embarassing K.O.

Mayweather was superior to Hatton on the outside AND the inside. How many flush punches did Hatton even land? Yet Hatton was eating straight right after straight right!

    :good

Pop, this would be a good thread to play your "normal opinion, ******ed opinion" game haha.

Normal opinion: For me Hopkins won a close fight! Courtesy of emeritus

******ed opinion: it could have ended in 140 unanswered slaps if cortez had tried to ref fairly. Courtesy of headbanger

Were there two calzaghe-hopkins fights? because i've only seen the one where calzaghe landed more punches in every single round and hopkins spent 12 rounds trying to clinch.
Even the stats for POWER punches, calzaghe landed more in every single round.

The only judge that scored this fight for hopkins was adalaide byrd.
The judge who scored Kelly Pavlik and Alfonso Lopez a draw
and Yusaf Mack beating Tavoris Cloud
If she scored this fight like the other two judges we wouldnt even be questioning whether or not calzaghe won this.

It was a terrible fight, but I believe Calzaghe deserved to get the nod

BHOP would have probably lost by a wider margin if he hadnt been given extra time to recover from the fictitious low blows :good

Hop was tired, he NEEDED recovery time and was given the opportunity to do so.
