Calzaghe would have beaten any of the past Middleweight greats.

You tell me when you think Calzaghe was at his best.

I am no yank... but you seriously think that to beat a great fighter who is not great anymore the same as beating them when they were at their best then you are out of your mind. Fact is most of the greats NEVER complain they lost because they were not at their best, they took the fight they must take the consequences.

When were those guys "at their best?" Was Calzaghe "in his prime" when he fought them?

I think Clazaghe would out point Toney and Hopkins, so I would say 9-6

I think he would have out pointed Toney but more due to Toney being drained and unmotivated.

Hopkins beats him in his prime I think because he has more gas for down the stretch.

    He'd struggle with Fully Obel.

Calzaghe was quite a bit bigger than middleweight.

Still, I'm not sure he beats many middleweight greats. It's impossible to say. He would have won a few with his size, I'd guess.

I suppose little guys like Basilio, or even perhaps Griffith, would have perhaps been out-sized by Calzaghe.

The new American superstar Jeff Lacy was going to destroy Joe. 95% of this board was predicting that and when JC spanked him suddenly 95% of this board knew Lacy was never that good. lol

Joe was brilliant that night. I backed him to beat Lacy, who I thought had been a bit overrated on what he had achieved.

Jeff Lacy was a face first slugger.

He was strong, but that was about it.

Jeff Lacy was unproven when he fought Calzaghe. Yes, some Americans overhyped him, but this is one case where one can look back and say, "Yes, Lacy was not that good."

The gulf between the talent of Jeff Lacy and the all time greats is far and wide.

Calzaghe never even fought at Middleweight, so the whole premise of this thread is off.
