Calzaghe would have KO'd Hopkins in 13, 14 or 15

A combination of Hopkins exhaustion and Calzaghe's fist would result in a KO or TKO.

There is no evidence whatsoever that Joe would go for it had the fights gone back to 15-3 minutes rounds... Actually it makes me think that if there's common reason in what concerns to Hopkins slowing down even more and getting spent then there's also reason to think that Calzaghe would wind up his punches and slap even more throughout the contest. Let's be reasonable here - relentless Joey was on the attack and outworked old Bernard but he never ever hooked his way in to steamroll Hops outa there and why didn't he? Cause he didn't want to experience the canvas again!... 12 round was more than enough for Calzaghe to outpoint Hopkins, nobody knows what could have happened with one second more on the clock, 3 rounds more or a rematch and that's all there is to it.

even against a 43 year old fighter, you have to land a clean hard shot or two before you can knock someone out. so, i don't think calzaghe would've ko'd hopkins even in 15 rounds.

A fine point. Hopkins was desperately feigning low blows in order to get a rest. I can imagine him quitting on his stool. Anyone declaring Hopkins a winner on points is a deluded Yank or a flat earther.

    wow you're delusional ....

no one KO's Hopkins, and especially not a light puncher like Calzaghe..

Calzaghe couldn't even land flush on Hopkins with a single power shot the first 12 rounds, what makes you think he would have landed one past the 12th? And one that would hurt Hopkins?

I like Calzaghe, he is a great talent.... but it is fans like you that cause all of the hate for Calzaghe, you are so blinded by your nuthuggery...

and it is not a joke that some people think Hopkins won... it was a close fight, hell one of the judges gave it Hopkins.. and not a judge with a bad track record. (although I do think Calzaghe won)

Some people judge fights on clean effective punches (hopkins) , some people base it more on workrate and aggression (calzaghe).

Hopkins has been in trouble only once in his career , but he was never in trouble against Calzaghe , and whos to say Joe wouldnt get caught again like he did in the first. Joe won just , and that was because bernard was 43. At 33 joe wouldnt have gotten out of the first round had he been caught the same way.

How did you come to the conclusion that Hopkins, who trained for a 12 round fight would have been Knock out, in round 13 -15.

Hopkins was never hurt during that fight, he was tired tho

Calzaghe never landed a flush shot in that fight.

Calzaghe's last legit Knock down was in 2006 against Jeff Lacy
Hopkins was last Knock down in 1994 against Mercudo

Calzaghe did land some flush shots, but it was mainly aggression which won him the fight. Hopkins wasnt hurt at all, and even though Calzaghe was knocked down wasnt hurt either. Hopkins body language seemed very tired at the end, but im not convinced Calzaghe would have stopped Hopkins.

See my previous posts regarding the exhaustion factor. I don't care how good Hopkins' chin was, he was exhausted and rolling around on the canvas, gasping for air, before the end of the 12th. He would not have made it much further, let alone 3 rounds. If you watch the 12th round, Calzaghe was turning up the heat. He certainly had enough left to maintain the pace, which Hopkins could not handle.

I think if it had gone on Calzaghe would have easily taken all the championship rounds, but imo the fight could have gone on for 30 rounds without a KO.

Hopkins was dead tired, but he would have been able to stay on his feet and hold his way to the end of the fight. Calzaghe hadn't landed anything hurtful the entire fight, so I have no reason to believe he would score a KO. Calzaghe was landing at will, but the punches weren't damaging ones, and Hopkins is known for having a great chin. At that particular age, Calzaghe just did not have the power to take out elite guys with good chins and great defense.

I'm glad Calzaghe retired, because he just didn't have the punch anymore. Back in 2002 (Hopkins 36, Calzaghe 30ish), I believe Calzaghe could have finished Hopkins inside of 12 with a ref stoppage due to accumulation of punishment. I don't think Calzaghe could ever have dropped Hopkins, unless it was combined with a push (like Hopkins did to him), a balance knockdown, or a bodyshot.

actually, I thought Hopkins was finishing stronger than Joe in the championship rounds... BTW... no one was knocking no one out
