I was wondering why Joe Calzaghe did not enter into the olympics before he was pro - and then it occured to me that it would be impossible for him to win a bout.

The reason is that he never punches with the front of the glove facing forward - the white spot on the olympic glove need to hit the face of the opponent and calzaghe slaps with the front of the glove - with the lace part in some cases!

it's simple, if calzaghe was allowed to enter the beijing olympics - he would go out in the furst round!

thats really really stupid basically, joe was an unbelievable amateur and didnt start slapping until his hands went to ****!he was a three time aba champion and was only looked over for the olympics because the anglo centric british team would not allow him to take enzo as a trainer,it must be said that if joe ever was at the olypics when he was younger he would have been very hard to beat simply because of the speed of his lateral movement in avoiding punches and the huge output that he uses,it would take a very smart very fast amateur to keep joe from winning.imo if joe had gone to atlanta he would have won middleweight gold!

Joe would have won gold in any weight class.

just reading your statement and you show your stupidity even more, you say you need to hit the face of the opponent,so what can you not score with a body punch,do you even watch boxing?

It wouldn't matter because the punching power would be equal at his normal weight.

I'd absolutely love to hear about the bantamweights that can knock Chris Eubank on his ass :hi:

Too bad the olympics are about 0 indication of how you'd fare as pro anymore. It's a completely different sport. Atlas's comment on "fistic fencing" was right on the money.

You forget to realise that Calzaghe was a wrecking machine, demolishing all but one of his opponents pre-Eubank - who by co-incidence was Chris's cousin.

Basically, you would have to hit Eubank with a sledgehammer, because he took two fights worth from Nigel Benn and only suffered 1 KD, which was 995 slip 1% contact :deal

Before you open your mouth it is advisable to think first. Now go and watch some boxing before talking out of your arse once more, no doubt :hi:
