People forget Toney was fighting at CW before Calzaghe had even won his first SMW title so I cant see how anyone could say Calzaghe was ducking him. Toney was also fighting at HW just after the time Calzaghe beat B Mitchell.
So no Calzaghe never ducked Toney

I think what makes anyone say that is... probably the fact that Calzaghe waited till Hopkins and Jones were old. Both of them were over 40 when Joe C fought them. In boxing terms, that's old, absolutely no doubt about it. It's not really a very outlandish point the TS was making. Pretty cut and dried in fact. How can you say 40+ is not old? :huh

Calzaghe didnt wait, please dont pretend that Calzaghe ducked Hopkins, it was Hopkins who didnt want to fight Calzaghe, so once again what makes you think Calzaghe waited till they were old? He didnt, they did. You could say the fights didnt happen until they were older, but not Calzaghe waited till they were old. Still people age different and Hopkins in his fight before Calzaghe beat Wright and in his fight after beat Pavlik so he may be old but not past it. Jones was at HW before Calzaghe beat Mitchell and Hopkins backed out of the fight. Still who was Calzaghe meant to fight at LHW? Hopkins was the champ, it would have been odd if Calzaghe wasnt facing him, wouldnt it?
For the record, Jones wasnt over 40 or even 40 when Calzaghe beat him. Calzaghe himself was 36 nearly 37 when he beat Jones, hardly a spring chicken.

People seem to just blankly refuse to accept Hopkins ducked Calzaghe, its selective reading and a sign of ignorance.

Very true, for some reason people pretend it never happend and carry on saying about Calzaghe.
I think Hopkins has alot of very hardcore fans who find it very hard to accept Calzaghe beat him.
If Calzaghe had of lost to Hopkins im sure alot of these people would say I respect Calzaghe for coming over and trying against the elite only for him not to be good enough, but because Calzaghe beat him along with every other fighter he faced, it seems to rattle some people for some reason.
    But yes Hopkins ducked Calzaghe

Your opinion is not worth ****...

You are just a ****ing poser that thinks this is a popularity contest, and you really don't know **** about boxing. Your views are twisted, everyone knows you are a joke. There is nothing more hypocritical than a Calzaghe ball sucker calling Roy's record padded. At least he holds wins over great prime fighters!

Shot Joe fought prime Jones?:lol::lol::patsch Jones had been shot to pieces for 5 years.
    ****ing moron.

Posts like this expose you for the moron that you are.

You think that was the first time in Roy's career he showed heart? You don't watch much boxing other than Calzaghe do you? Remember Tarver vs Jones 1? He showed more heart and willpower there than he did against Calzaghe. Hell he had Calzaghe hurt early and didn't even try to finish him, and you are gonna call that a near prime performance? Joe even had his hands down for multiple seconds and Roy would barely throw a punch, Toney couldn't even get a away with it for one instant against a prime Jones without getting pounced. No one would have got away with that **** against a prime Jones, Calzaghe knows this too.

Roy did not have anything near his prime capabilities against Joe. If you knew anything about Roy Jones you would be able to tell his hand speed had severely diminished, he didn't throw with conviction and his power was greatly diminished from the elite level it used to be at. He had no legs, which was one of the most important aspect of a prime Jones' style, he has average reflexes that were once godly.

Funny you say Jones was on a long winning streak.. Lets look into that.

    Prince Badi Ajamu, who????

SMW fighter Anthony Hanshaw, not a very good fighter at all, that actually had a close fight with Roy.

Felix Trinidad... Fighting 4 weight classes above his best weight, with a 3 year layoff, and still managed to win the first 3 rounds against Roy.

And Joe used these wins as an excuse to go back on his earlier statements that Roy Jones was no longer a great fighter? Do you really think that those wins after 3 straight losses warrant a title shot?? Or is your mouth so full of Joe's balls that you can't think for yourself?

No, they don't warrant a title shot. But he got one, because Calzaghe was looking to cash out against a big name and a legend.. Can't blame him, but call it for what it is, and stop trying to make a meaningless win some kind of legendary proof of superiority over a fighter that was much further from his best than Joe himself. Not even comparable actually.

Just because Jones was beaten more convincingly by fighters before and after Joe beat him, does not mean that was the best Jones.

This is the last time I will waste time with and idiot.:hi:

    Unless Rico comes around.:yep

James would have beaten Joe but it wouldn't be murder! Joe would do well in spots but ultimately i think the style and disparity in Skills would be apparent. James wins by a very comfortable margin if not by KO.

....Toney lost clearly to fighters inferior to Calzaghe

Threads with "Toney" in the title tend to be the absolute dumbest in this forum.

It would have been a good scrap but Toney had to much Pop for Joe .Lets also factor Toney's defense ..Toney is and always was very crafty ..Unless Toney had trouble with south paws I dont see how he beats a prime Toney ..

I mean Joe's best perfromances came against Lacy who had no buisness in their with Joe ,Hopkins which was an ugly fight and Kessler who is no where near the level of James Toney as far as boxing ability ..Some people have to remember that before his loss to Jones he was p4p the best boxer in the buisness !And it wasn't for fighting bumbs !!!
