Simple logic... What does RJJ do when someone comes forward? He falls to the ropes. What happens when an opponent goes to the ropes against calzaghe? They get slapped to death. Terrile matchup for RJJ if he takes it. He should just fight Silva for easy money, then retire.
I dont wanna see no Jones vs Calzaghe, Jones is shot to **** and looking for a payday and he'll just make us Americans look bad. I'd like to see Dawson vs Calzaghe though.. But Calzaghe won't fight Dawson that's for sure.
I agree. Roy not only goes to the ropes, he goes to the ropes and into a shell. At some point I see Calzaghe opening up with a never ending slap combo.
Roy Jones wouldve beaten Calzaghe in his prime. joe beats him quite easioy now, there are more meaningful fights out there for JC, this ifght will just get him even more abuse off the haters!
i wouldnt be too confident in picking calzaghe against jones...roy jones is still a wiley old fox that could just have that one of a kind style to fook up calzaghe...for me its very hard to call
I dont know if they fight Jones will come up with the right game plan and won't do that so I think if Jones comes in focused he has 20% chance.
I wouldn't of believed Calzaghe would of been getting hit with straight right hands right down the middle either. But he did. RJJ has a lot more speed than Bhop. I think it would be a good fight.
slap flurries are not gonna hurt roy. roy still has faster hands than calzaghe and hes stronger. calzaghe is a very weak light heavyweight. i think roy could put a better showing on than hopkins did. i think hopkins small punch output hurt him. roy will let his hands go when he realizes calzaghe can't hurt him with his best shot.
Letting his hands go is exactly what roy DOES NOT DO THESE DAYS. This will be a sad loss for RJJ because Roy would have beaten Calzaghe in prime4prime.
If the Johnson fight proved anything, is that he doesnt like guys who can pressure him, Joe will control the middle of the ring, walk Roy back and out work him on thr ropes. Joe is open to right hands, that has been his biggest defnsive weakness through out his career as a southpaw. but Roy doesnt have the ability anymore, he cant control Calzaghe like he controlled Tito. The Tito fight was an illusion of greatness the win in all didnt really prove anything to anybody even if it was fun to watch. Calzaghe - Tarver/Dawson bring it on!
Joe looked foolish in this fight, not like he normally does. Imagine him fighting a younger good fighter. He will be beat in the U.S.
Jones will quickly realize that Calslappy can't hurt him and pot shot him with straight rights to the head and gut. Mix in a little lead left hook and Roy's got his belts back.
