Calzaghe wouldnt have been knocked down if the fight was in Cardiff!

Calzaghe wouldnt have been knocked off balance if Hopkins had landed with that punch in Wales, or if Calzaghe had been given at least 6months prior to fight to live in the Uk.

As we know Las Vegas is at an altitude of 2014 feet compared to Cardiff's 67 feet above sea level.

As you can see, higher altitudes affect balance and co-ordination when you havent been fully adjusted to them. So with Calzaghe only getting 2 weeks to adjust instead he was already at a disadvantage.

Calzaghe runs in the mountains. He wouldn't have got knocked down if he wasn't so damn relaxed

them mountains are 450ft max at the peaks.

its the same as when JC put Eubank on his ass. its the first round you are cold and you prob hav not taken a full force hit to the face in 7 months.
i think he would have gone down where ever the fight was held in cardiff it would have been UD not SD

according to that chart 2000 feet takes less than a couple of minutes to acclimatise to

Hopkins once fought at over 9000 feet with less than 4 days acclimatisation time

+ it looks like u made it in paint :D

Yeha to acclimatise so that your not in a state of ataxia, it wasnt a balance/cordination affeting graph, was merely there to show the relation between balance and altitude which IMO was a major factor in the fight.

We're not talking about high-altitude illness here Pharoe which is what the graph is about, otherwise we'd have people dieing all over the place.

Interesting theory. Might spark a new post off me regarding the relationship between height-and punch resistance.

also notice calzaghe's hair was shorter than other fights, the aerodynamics caused him to go down so fast.

It didnt help that Bernard rushed him after the punch to ensure that he went down.
Calzaghe ate a harder punch at the end of the 7th? and kept his footing.
