Obviously not, I'm just trying is disect the word coward. To achieve a word that means the same without being the actual word.
If I understand you correctly Calzaghe's lack of ambition and waste of his true potential frustrates you. A lot of Calzaghe's fans (me included) probably share the same views. At the end of the day he's done quite a bit, maybe he could have done a lot more but because of the choices he made we'll never know. Also if he had gone to the states years ago he may have a few losses by now but have more respect.
His 'point' doesn't hold up at all you numbskull. What exactly is his point? He changes tact at the speed of light! First we questioned who he could fight that would have substantially boosted his resume. From what I can dissect from his spam esque posts, he believes Calzaghe should have fought Ottke or RJJ. Fair enough. (Notice he fails to mention undisputed middleweight champion Hopkins) Lets deal with Ottke first. Both undefeated champs in the SMW division. First sleazy asserts that Calzaghe only called out Ottke ONCE:rofl and that this wasn't good enough. After being shown up in this regard and after acknowledging Ottke infamously pretending not to know who Calzaghe was let alone call him out he states that Calzaghe should have went to Germany ****ing Germany home of corruption fought a few more contender types, basically knocking on Ottkes door to get his attention. Aside from that being one of the weakest lines of argument I have ever came across given Calzaghes status in the division and the chance of being robbed in that country this fight could have never happened there. It had to happen on neutral territory IMO. Ottke agree to that? Yeah ****ing right. He can't even acknowledge the guys existence to even contemplate fighting him at all let alone fighting him away from home. And no1 in their right mind can blame JC for not going to Germany(im dubious as to whether Ottke would even accept the fight there) given what happened to Green. Given what happened to Larsen. Given what happened to Reid. Look at what happened last week with Braithwaite! The ref helping his opponent to his feet! FFS you would have to be insane to fight Ottke there!
Better split this into two posts might be too much for certain simpletons to comprehend. RJJ - Notoriously difficult matchmaker. Sleazy to his credit acknowledges this. Jones would not have been up for the fight unless Calzaghe became a mandatory or else and much more signficantly and worthwhile for the pair of them if the fight came off, beat a superstar. Calzaghe challenged Hopkins in 2002. Hopkins agreed. Hopkins pulled out at the last minute demanding 6 million rather than the 3 agreed. Joe made all the concessions here. And yet Sleazy doesn't regard this as trying to fight a true elite? I despair! The Hopkins fans should be up in arms here! Hes trying to assert pretty much that B-Hop was never elite on the basis! If Calzaghe had beaten Hopkins he would had Jones attention and a platform in the states then who knows? Hopkins backed out and that is not Joes fault! DM however is another matter. He beats DM he gets a huge name on his resume and Jones attention. DM would have been far more willing to play ball also than Ottke. I hold Joe to task here: he never called this guy out. But what was so bad about staying at 168? He was attacked by many on this board for 'fleeing the division' in 2004 when he arranged to fight Johnson in the face of the up and coming champs Lacy and Kessler. What does Joe do? Stays and beats both and yet these aren't risky fights? Anyone who says Calzaghe has never taken a risk is a prat. And if you actually look a little deeper, you can see that not only does he have a strong resume but he did try and make certain fights to make it still stronger. Certain individuals weren't interested - Ottke and Hopkins.
I don't really mention Hopkins because he was world middleweight champion, and unless Calzaghe was going to make 160 it was a fight he would have to rely on Hopkins moving out of his own division, and with Calzaghe's record why would Bernard move up to fight him? He wouldn't, Calzaghe wasn't a superstar or anything close. On Ottke, I NEVER said Calzaghe "only called out Ottke ONCE" I said Calzaghe calling him out on Sky in Newcastle or London or Cardiff isn't EVER going to get a German based fighter into a fight. You have to go to Germany and show you want a fight, and show the whole country how good you are in front of them. Even just go ringside at his fights and tell him to his face "fight me" - Calzaghe did nothing. You consistantly make up points I never said, and ramble on about nothing. People go to Germany and win fights, it's not corrupt anymore than England is. They favour their fighters to a point. You do not have to "knock them out to get a draw" you do not get "warned for punching" or any other cliche that bitter Brits and Yanks use. It's just another country that record and broadcast their fights to the world. And if you watched any number of fights in Germany, you'd know that.
On Roy being difficult, it's not important. All I wanted was Calzaghe to try his best to get a fight with him. Are you saying fighting in Britain at 168 was EVERYTHING he could possibly do to get a fight with Roy Jones? If he goes to America and fights at 175, he shows the world (America in particular) that he want's the fight and he's a credible opponent. And guess what - a lot more people would want to see the fight. What Calzaghe did made nobody outside of Britain even know he hardly existed, it's not the way to get the biggest fight in boxing.
1 week to go and the Joe Calzaghe era is about to unravel. The so called trainer of the year Enzo Calzaghe a grade "A" prat is going to have his 3rd high profile loss this year come Saturday courtesy of B-Hop. I am not a fan of either fighter but have seen a lot of both. The Calzaghe's don't realise what they are up against. Joe's offensive defensive southpaw style is meet and drink for Hopkins who I have seen beat at least 12 high quality southpaws. They think they can overpower Hopkins even though physically stronger and mor athletically gifted fighters have not been able. This is not Chris Eubank, Jeff Lacy, Robin Reid or Mikkel Kessler Calzaghe is facing. Joe's time has come.
I'd agree if Hopkins wasn't 43 years old, and hadn't been beaten twice by a less-than-great middleweight already in his last 4. I feel it'd be embarrassing for Calzaghe to lose at this point in Bernard's career.
The Taylor fight has nothing to do with this. Taylor's style spelt trouble for B-Hop especially over the early part of the fight though a lot of people(not I) thought B-Hop deserved the verdict. B-Hop is not a normal 43 years old and people are forgetting that based on his last few fight Kessler and Bika, Calzaghe at 36 is slipping. Calzaghe will hit the canvass in this fight.
I'd love you to enlighten me as to why Taylor's style spelt trouble yet Calzaghe's won't. It was Taylor's speed and athleticism (which Joe has in abundance) that caused the old man problems. Certainly wasn't superior boxing ability, Taylor is nothing special. It is no coincidence Hopkins has looked much better against similarly old and immobile fighters like Tarver and Wright since... Another misconception seems to be that Joe is going to go in there and charge him. What if Joe uses the jab, as he did against Kessler? What the hell is Hop going to do then? For all Hopkins ring IQ, Joe is by far the more adaptable fighter at this stage.
